Why is it that when you are cooking on the grill, the smoke blows in your face no matter where you stand? ---

Wind coming from your back that would blow the smoke away from you is blocked by you. Whereas wind coming at your face and therefore across the grill isn’t blocked. There is an old wive’s tale that sitting around a campfire, the smoke blows towards the prettiest girl and the ugliest boy.
