There’s a lot of good music on the soundtrack to The Civil War miniseries.
Gettysburg is often called the high-water mark of the Confederacy for a reason; and I can now see that more clearly with this video (more specifically the high water mark is just beyond that crook in the stone wall over there to the side of the clump of trees).
Also there was reference to battles in the areas controled by the Union. Some of those were in Missouri; There was quite a bit of guerilla warfare going on there (Quantrell, Bill Anderson et.al)

The early years of the war were fought in the frontier regions of the Confederacy. The southern heartland was Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi - and this area wasn’t directly attacked until late in the war. Once places like Richmond, Atlanta, and Charleston started falling, the war ended in a few months.
