What’s the coolest thing you’ve found at Goodwill/Salvation Army/Savers? Last night, I found a 1997 Tickle Me Elmo, which totally works. $1.49 is never too much for my daughter. ---

I got a gorgeous 100% silk shirt for $4. It’s an amazing deep indigo blue, and in perfect shape. I’ve gotten lots of clothes at Goodwill, but that was my best find. ---

There’s a Remar in the same block as my apartment. They have two gorgeous chests, inlaid wood, for 450CHF and 500CHF. I like chests, they’re great for putting away blankets and things like that. ---

Goodwill (Op Shops) are my boutiques of choice. The only things I buy new are knickers and bras. 😛 My best _recent_ find was a genuine suede jacket at The Salvos, dark red, in excellent nick but minus a button (which I later found in the pocket!!). It cost $1.00. ---

A wooden plaque measuring 18" x 36" with a blowup of the October 11, 1982 Newsweek advertising “Wild ‘CATS’–London’s Smash Musical Pounces on Broadway” and nine of the original cast members. I paid $23 for it. For an Andrew Lloyd Webber fan, that was an amazing find. It was leaning against the wall with the back showing. Good thing I turned it around, ---

A vintage Le Crueset fondue pot with all of the accessories, brand new in the (gross, nasty) box. For $3. I’ve also scored tons of clothes, our stovetop Italian espresso maker, and my vintage cake carrier. Hmm, also my tall “eiffel tower” vase, the giant spice rack, and our medieval-style dining room table and eight chairs (although that was $300, but still a very significant savings!) Now that I think about it, my walnut desk chair, the vanity I re-did for the bathroom, and the boy’s beer fridge and the chest freezer are thrift store finds as well. What can I say, I love thrift stores. A lot. ---

My daughter actually located it: an Eddie Bauer mini packback, which I use for baby stuff. It didn’t have tags, but it was so stiff it obviously had never even been used. $2. We were in there looking for pirate wear for her for Halloween. I got a 100% silk blouse in a ladies’ 6. I wish it fit me! It’s gorgeous. ---

A thick wool coat with sheep skin lining. Red with white trim, and a patch on the shoulder that’s a jumping cow, and the words “Hook’Em Cow”. It turns out it was from either the 1914 or the 1940’s Saint Paul Winter Carnival parade. My mom saw the same coat on display once, under glass. ---
