Hubby’s a roll-off truck driver, The trucks that deliver dumpsters. In the past week he brought home a Partridge Family lunch box, a Tonka tow truck, an old toy tractor, and a pretty good snow board.

So what cool stuff have you found in the trash ?

Once, when I was little, my grandma found an electric race-car track, complete with cars. And it worked-we had a day of fun after we cleaned it up!

My wife has a wicker chair in the back seat of her car that she found in the trash; although there’s no room for it in the apartment, she just loves it. 😕 Her latest find was a very silly-looking hat that she found dumpster-diving. She likes that too (and she doesn’t even own any other hats).

Love her still, the big crazy.

Not me, but my grandmother. Man down the block died, and his family tossed a bunch o’ stuff out the back door& into the street. After it had been there a bit, my gran, having live through the depression, went and picked-over the refuse, finding a damaged (bottom punctured) silver porringer. Some years later she hauled it to one of those “Road Shows”, where it was identified as an authentic Revere Porringer, and a significant one, at that. She had much delight in saying “I told you so” to my grandfather, who had always thought it to be fake.

It’s now on long-term [loan](http://www.winterthur.org/Events/metal.htm) to the [Winterthur Muesum](http://www.winterthur.org) in Delaware.

> Winterthur, DE October 23, 2001 – _A silver porringer made by Paul Revere_, a Victorian cast iron parlor stove, a gold presentation medal, and a teakettle made of copper, brass, and tin are among the objects in the new Metalworks gallery opening at Winterthur on November 9.
