What are wig-wags? Does that refer to the lights?
I got pulled over in Somerville for an expired sticker, and ticketed, too. It’s an expensive ticket, as non-moving violations go. I don’t remember how much it was, but I remember that it hurt for a starving grad student.
See, my problem is that for the past 3 years I’ve been driving 50 miles each way to work on the NJ Turnpike. Those Turnpike cops are ornery, I tell you! I’ve gotten three speeding tickets, and I deserved two of them. One of them I was going about 68, but for some reason they had lowered the speed limit to 45 from 65. They usually do that when there’s an accident or there’s bad weather, but there was neither on this occasion. The cop knew it was a BS ticket, but he didn’t care.

I’ve been pulled over so many times I’ve lost count. I’ve received only two tickets, one of which I deserved. The other times, I seem to have a curse. If 3000 cars go by doing 5-7 over the limit, I’m the one who will get pulled over.
I love it when they start out, “Just so you know, this conversation is being recorded for training purposes.” I say, “Good, because I’ve got a few things I want to say.” Then I go on about how they set up these stupid speed traps on the biggest hill around for 20 miles. Usually they just say, “Uh, you can go.”
I’m pretty sure if you gave your consent, he wasn’t searching illegally.
I’ve been driving 7 years, been pulled over twice, gotten a ticket once. Never had a cop ask to search my car, never had any more than a simple professional conversation with either while he was standing at my window.
I deserved both of the stops and the ticket, and I figure I probably haven’t been stopped or ticketed when I’ve deserved it a few times over the years I’ve been on the road. No complaints from me.
It was illegal because the cop threatened to damage the car if he didn’t consent (tear your car apart until we find what we’re looking for).
Shaggy hair! There’s your answer. I stopped getting pulled over when I started wearing my hair short.
Y’all don’t have any license to complain about what happens to you on your commute until you’ve narrowly escaped being shot to death by a trucker.
In eight years of driving I have never been pulled over. I have worked around police for the past 5 years and never had a single rude encounter. I don’t mean to offend, but I really think alot of you are probably being jerks and not realizing it.
Oh yeah? Well, the jerk store called and they’re all out of you!
Nah, I’ve only started letting my hair grow out for about a year now. The majority of my stops were with short hair.

“I’m pulling you over becuse someone in a van like this one was reported seeing stealing a lawnmower” [This was in december BTW]
“Okay”
“Do you mind if I take a look inside” [It was an empty E250 Van]
“Sure go ahead”
“Okay, it’s empty, ummm why are you so nervous?”
“Cuz you’re a cop”
“Good answer”
And I was on my way.
My friends brother was pulled over a few years ago. The exact words from the cop were “You were going 35 in a 25, but you were accelarating, so I’m going to give you a ticket for going 43”
 I wouldn’t even know how to react to that.
My reaction:
“Since I was not actually going 43 mph, you have no evidence, no case and this ticket will not stand up in court. However, I may have a case for false charges and harassment. If you’d like to take this in that direction, then I’ll be glad to accept the ticket, sir.”
