Yes, the war on drugs is not handled properly, yes it should be changed, but until it is, the cops are doing what they are told to do, which is legal, and proper. It’s not like they shot the stupid drug dealing bitch.

No, I want to see them patrolling. For instance, setting speed traps, while perhaps effective for raising funds, IMO is not a good use of a police officer’s time, because spending the day giving out tickets for that isn’t making anyone safer.

Isn’t preventing speeding making the roads safer? I know it’s annoying to get a speeding ticket, but the ticketing people for speeding seems to me like the only way to enforce speed limits, which are set for safety reasons. Do people think they’re just shouldn’t be laws governing speed on public roads?

People spending a lot of time and money protecting us from people who wouldn’t be a threat of any kind if their drug of choice wasn’t illegal. If we didn’t have to put so much time and effort into busting pot growers, those officers could do something productive, for a different employer.

I agree with your general premise, but the OP was talking about people enjoying their ‘drug of choice’ while driving. Even if those drugs were legal, I doubt that driving under the influence is going to become legal. The cops would still have to look for suspicious activity while driving, and I don’t see how that is a poor use of police time, unless you enjoy sharing the roads with people who are blotto.
