Has anybody out there ever played corn hole? If you’ve played you know what I’m talking about. It involves bags filled with corn and two slanted ramps with a hole in the middle of them. I’ve told my co-workers about this game and they don’t believe me. If you know of any webpages out there that have the rules or if you have played the game and know the rules please post them. I have forgotten how many points you get for getting a bag in the hole or for landing one on the ramp. ---

That sort of sounds like Skee-Ball. Come to think about it, I wouldn’t want to get Skee-Balled in prison, either. ---

No, it’s not really like skee ball. It is closer to jarts, only with corn bags. You toss the bags in the air and try to get them to go in the hole or land on the ramp. If they bounce on the ground first the bag is dead and can’t score a point. You can try to knock the opponents corn bags off the ramps too. ---

Ah yes, I remember they were playing that outside the Met at the last opening—the Mayor blocked off Fifth Avenue just for the event (we play it with bags of money and potholes here in New York). You should have seen Brooke Astor, Vera Wang and Calvin Klein going at it! I laughed so hard I nearly spilled my cocktail. —Eve (adjusting her lorgnette) ---

I vaguely recall seeing a game like that at various backyard “funfairs.” I think it was played with beanbags, although they could just as well have been filled with corn. ---

This is not exactly the topic I always dreamed that my first post would be about, but oh well. My husband is the only other person I have heard use the term corn hole, and he was not refering to a game. His explanation is this: in the olden days a corn husk was sometimes used to wipe the, ahem, corn hole, after a number two. Granted he is not a historian, and when questioned on the validity of his definition, his only reply was: C’mon! Everybody knows THAT! Not the most reliable source, I know. However, I admit I am just the tee-tiniest interested in the so-called Corn Hole Game! 😉 ---

Yes, I always associated the term “corn hole” with the anus. And who could forget Beavis–Cornholio himself.
