Coronado, Mission Bay, Pacific Beach … where to stay?

Just out of curiousity LunaSea, where do you live?

BobbySuezQ If you want to stay in Coronado, we can highly recommend the Best Western on Orange and Third. That’s where our visiting family members stayed, it’s quiet and clean (though I’m not sure what it costs) they’ve got a quiet little courtyard you can get rowdy in, there’s a brewery and a donut shop two blocks down, the bay’s about four blocks down…We were envious of our family in their little BW complex while we had to schlep back to the monolithic tourist trap Hotel del.

Or, on the fantasy in San Diego Bay side, Orbitz lists “San Diego Yacht and Breakfast” as a hotel option. It’s $295/night though. I only mention it because it sounds neat; you stay on your own little yacht…I don’t think they let you take it anywhere though, dernit.

Okay, I’ll bite. Which hotel did you stay at? I am, afterall, looking for suggestions, and do not need to stick with the properties I listed in the OP.

TortugaThe Best Western is a little too cookie cutter hotel for my liking. We’ve tried to pick properities that have something unusual going for them, OR are directly on the beach.

Now the yacht does sound like a fun idea, but alas, we will have a small herd of ankle biters with us, and had already previously ruled out a few houseboats on a lake somewhere.

**update to my original list ** siiiigh. I was able to contact most of these hotels through e-mail since they all have websites. I am starting to get responses back and find my list will be thinned out a bit. So far I’m axing Glorietta Bay Inn simply because they didn’t really take the time to address the questions in my e-mail and quoted me their current rack rate. HELLO! I was on the website, I KNEW what the rack rate was. Perhaps I am a weee bit impatient, but … so goes the saga of being the camp coordinator.
