Yesterday, Hawaii hit a single-day record with 55 new cases reported. Today we broke that record with 60. The running total now is 1549 cases and 26 deaths. It will be interesting to see how this hurricane that’s bearing down on us affects the situation. ---

Those investors are likely buying shares in many pharmaceutical companies knowing that many will fail but some will hit it big. It’s similar to investments in startup software companies or an expanding real estate market. A few cranks keep trying to challenge any measures in court, saying they’re not needed since cases are so low. The courts keep saying the cases are so low because the measures are friggin’ working. But we’re seeing an exponential rise now. Will have to see what develops. ---

[Massachusetts to Institute Fines for Non-Compliance with New Travel Restrictions](https://www.natlawreview.com/article/covid-19-massachusetts-to-institute-fines-non-compliance-new-travel-restrictions) > Effective August 1, 2020 Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker’s [Order 45](https://pierceatwoodwhatsup.com/e/hyegnudlnhj75eg/d8409684-c930-41e7-b6ee-d9cd83919780) requires all out of state (and international) travelers entering Massachusetts, specifically including students and returning residents, to [quarantine](https://pierceatwoodwhatsup.com/e/gduug8nrewpcsw/d8409684-c930-41e7-b6ee-d9cd83919780) for 14 days or produce a negative COVID-19 rest result from a test administered within 72 hours prior to arrival in the Commonwealth. But there was one case at a condominium complex in Hawaii Kai, a moderately upscale neighborhood, where a resident’s mother had flown in from California. She violated the quarantine by going out every day, and the resident’s neighbors reported her. Good on them, but it must be kind of awkward now at the tenants meetings. ---
