Coronavirus general discussion and chit-chat

The pharmacist in my case appeared to assume that I’d get one in each arm, and asked only whether I had a preference as to which was which. As I didn’t know what to base such a preference on, I said that I didn’t. I think that’s probably still true – if one arm were so painful as to be very difficult to use, then I’d rather it were the left; but for this level of ache I don’t think it makes much difference. I’ll still want to try to aim for a time when I can take the next day easy (as I did in this case.)

– I suppose if both are given in the same arm and close together, if the patient has a bad reaction it might (depending on the type of reaction) be harder to tell which shot they were reacting to. On the other hand (hah!), some people would probably rather have one (possibly extra-sore) sore arm than two.

I’m mostly recovered after 24 hours, but I did feel achy and groggy all day yesterday and couldn’t sleep on one side where my arm was sore. All good now.

One complaint about Walgreens: the pharmacist last Saturday told me they were beginning walk-in vaxxes on Monday, so I should come back then. But when I got there on Monday, another pharmacist said “He told you what? No Walk-ins! We’re scheduling people all week now–I’ve got 100 shots scheduled already,” so I scheduled with CVS, like Walgreens cares that I cost them a customer.

Mine was at Walgreens. I came in for something else, decided to ask about availability, and was told in effect “We’ve got some available for walk-ins today, but have no idea whether we’ll have any for walk-ins on any other specific day.” So I decided to get it done while I had the chance. (I like to combine trips to any given town on the same day, and have enough trouble with specific-time appointments that I try to avoid having any that aren’t necessary, let alone two on one day. I can do them if I have to, but it screws up the whole rest of my day.)

My husband and I got ours on Thursday at our regular pharmacy. We originally went in for them last Saturday, but their shipment of vaccines had (predictably, for them) been delayed, so we just got our flu and RSV shots instead. And on Thursday, the pharmacist reminded me that I was overdue for a TDaP, so I had two sore arms twice last week.

Mr. Legend has been feeling a little crappy (lightheaded and a bit dizzy) since Friday. It’s this a side effect anyone else here has had?

Got the flu and latest Covid same arm Wednesday at CVS. Set up an online appointment and it was in 15 minutes from my place. Bit more of a effect this time. Trouble sleeping with hot/cold episodes making me flap the bedclothes every few minutes. Kind of punky the next day, then no problems. Two sore spots on the arm as usual but nothing widespread.

I haven’t been having trouble sleeping, but I have had a bit of hot/cold episodes during the day. ‘I’m cold, chilly out this evening, light fire in wood stove? – no, now I’m too hot!’ I’ve been wondering whether that was a vaccine reaction, maybe it is.

Arms still both sore, but less so. They can’t decide which one is more sore.

Got my updated vaxx this morning, and am only now getting a sore shoulder and the blahs. But that was the most painless shot I think I ever got. I could barely feel it at all.

I did NOT get a Covid vaccine today because the CVS I was scheduled at didn’t receive their supply today, and they neglected to notify me before I took off work and drove 30 minutes.

I did however get a flu shot and RSV shot. The needles really jabbed into the muscle badly, and I can hardly move my arm. Ordinarily I don’t have any issues.

I received my covid and flu shots yesterday at my local Kaiser. The first jab elicited a “Wowser” from me at the time. My arm is a bit sore this morning and my arm is hard to lift. I almost always have a backache, but it may be a bit worse than usual this morning. I’m just starting to notice some mild fleeting nausea.

I don’t have to go back to work until Monday, but I do have a birthday party for my granddaughter on Sunday. Here’s hoping this mild discomfort will be all gone by then.

Got Pfizer shot and flu shot at Costco yesterday. Flu shot arm was a little sore, no other reactions. Still haven’t had Covid. Heading to Fiji in 4 weeks so going to be extra careful.

I meant to get back to report but I was pretty icky feeling on Friday and still into Saturday. Friday really was a very long day. Very restless and achy. Could not sleep it away.

I’ve got a terrible cough today.

Sick and tired of being sick and tired.

You know, that was my experience too. The after effects lasted a good two or three days, although the worst was over after one day. I don’t remember the previous jabs causing such a long-lasting reaction.

Got the latest Covid booster and flu shot yesterday at Walgreens. Had to wait about 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment to get the shots owing to the pharmacy being backed up.

Just a normal amount of soreness today at the vaccination site. These days, if a vaccine doesn’t knock me out like the Shingles vaccine I’m pretty happy…

I got the Covid and flu shots today at CVS. They were giving the Moderna shot. All of my previous shots have been Pfizer. I had an appointment; they were right on time. Easy peasy.

I had an appointment today to get my latest booster but rescheduled because the pharmacy had overbooked and I didn’t feel like sticking around. Will try again on Monday. Frankly, I’m pleased so many people are lining up to get them!

I haven’t had the disease yet. That’s a record I’d like to try and keep.

Still, I’ve suffered like hell through every single vaccination and it’s been hard to force myself to go through it again each time. They are worse with every successive instance, 3 days of headache, chills, fever, muscle aches, joint aches, nausea and the full Monty of side effects.

Which brings me to the reason I’m posting:

I hope it’s true.

I’m waiting two more days to see if i can schedule a novavax appointment. It’s a different technology and has fewer side effects. But there’s a lot of covid near me. If the pharmacies don’t get the novavax vaccine soon, I’m going to get an mRNA shot. My plan is to book an appointment by late Friday.

I might call my pharmacy and see when the new novovax vaccine will arrive for them. I was aware it was coming out but had heard mixed reviews on the “fewer side effects” assertion.

Still, if it’s coming soon to a pharmacy near me, it would be worth a try!

We had online pre-taped Covid update training today. It was partly changes in words and phrases to be used, partly actual changes (such as no more covid absence bank - we have to use sick or vacation leave), and partly clarifications of things that haven’t changed, but that people are unsure about or have gotten wrong from time to time.

There was much discussion of what “close contact” means. That part had math.

What region are you in? Here in Connecticut the community levels have consistently been “Low” for seemingly ever.

I’ve had covid twice, and the second time was much less annoying than your description here in the second paragraph. The first time was roughly equivalent.

I’ve often wondered how much worse the virus could be than the side effects I suffer from the vaccines.

On the bright side, they don’t mess with my senses of taste or smell or fill my lungs with fluid. So there’s that.
