I was at a conference where a speaker made a very obvious error, similar to the insulin error of the OP. Someone immediately waved his hand, stood up, and corrected the speaker.
The speaker then brought up his first slide, with details of a soon-to-be-published study supporting his statement. It was really cool. His apparent mis-speak was intentional; he knew someone would point it out, allowing him to dramatically introduce his paper.
