I have 2 infected toes and have been looking at getting a prescription pill. I don’t have insurance and I know the cost will vary widely, but does anyone have any experience going through the whole process without insurance? What were the costs. I believe I’m looking at roughly $300 / month for the pill alone, but I need to factor in the doctor/ liver exams. Thanks. ---

Go to [GoodRx.com](http://GoodRx.com) and look up local pharmacy costs using their discount coupon. Then call the pharmacy yourself and verify that they accept the coupon and that they have the particular pill you’re looking for. It saved me a lot of money on medicine when I was uninsured. It’s showing $14.38 for 30 20mg pills at Walgreens vs $153.56 without coupon. ---

Another vote for GoodRx - I was able to get a $340 script filled at Walgreens for $24. One downside: the coupons have (at least) two numbers on them - and those numbers can change from month to month, so you should print out a fresh copy each time you go for a refill. ---

Presumably, there is a difference between the OTC and prescription preparations. Many OTC’s used to be 'script-only. That does NOT mean that the OTC pill is the same as the 'script version. ---

I used this drug about seven years ago and while I had insurance the copay for it was something like $170. I ended up purchasing the drug from a Canadian pharmacy and if I recall it cost about $60. ---

Oh and I forgot to add that the treatment worked as advertised. The infection of the nail has not returned after all these years. ---

A number of drug companies have discount programs for people with no insurance. While I think these programs are usually for much more expensive drugs you might check out the possibility.
