Why don’t you try an Epilady? Its a gizmo that plucks out follicles en masse , used by women to clean up their legs.
The first session would be AGONY, but subsequent sessions would only be pulling out downy baby hairs.

There are a few electrolysis devices available on Ebay, which should knock down the overall cost quite a bit. Whether they work or not is another question.
Everybody’s saying “but men’s facial hair is different from anything on a woman”, but don’t guys wax their eyebrows? (Metrosexual-ish guys, anyway?) A friend of mine does and he dosen’t seem to think it particularly hurts. He laughed at me when I had it done once and whined about the pain. I mean, how else would you get rid of the Bering land bridge?
Yeah, but I don’t think men’s eyebrows are very diffrent from women’s eyebrows and many women wax their brows. I think the full beard hair is a lot coarser and thicker.
I used to use one. Most of them are only designed for leg use and not recommended for armpit hair which is what I think is more similar to a beard. I did us mine on the armpit hair sometimes and not only did it hurt like a mo-fo, it would leave my armpit a little bloody from having ripped out such thick hair. I eventually stopped using it on my legs because it had a tendency to break hair, not pull them out completely, meaning I had to use it every week so it didin’t really save me any time.
What the OP should do is find himself one of those small nail and beauty salons. I just got my nails filled today and noticed they offer all sorts of waxing (even arm hair ). I’m sure they’d be happy to try it.
The best part about the nail salon waxing is the hilarious pricing: it’s always “Legs: $30 and up”, “Back: $50 and up”, etc. I always imagine some unfortunate coming in and the sweet little Korean girl saying “Oh no. For you, hundred dollar. In advance. Your mother a Wookie?”
So, I’ve got a mild case of trichotillomania – a compulsion to pluck my hair – so I think I can help out anyone who’s confused about types of hair.
Head: light and basically wispy. The standard for how much X hurts to pluck.
Arm/Leg: thicker, but buried about as deeply. Hurts about the same, and sometimes less.
Back/Neck: occasionally thicker and burlier, hurts about twice as much as plucking a head hair. Stubborn ones actually give a palpable sense of relief when removed. I wouldn’t be too worried about waxing these.
Pubic: thick, curly, buried pretty deep. Hurts about 5 times as much. Only pluck these if they’re ingrown and already causing discomfort, otherwise you’re just asking for agony.
Eyebrows: loosely connected, stiff hairs that would be ideal for a tiny tiny paintbrush. These can be plucked en masse with little or no pain. Waxing might hurt less than banging your shin on a table.
Eyelashes: a little more firmly connected, basically the same type of hair as eyebrows. Why in God’s name would you pluck these unless you had some weird compulsion?
Beard and Facial Hair: Deeply buried. Thick, resilient to plucking. Pain on the same scale as pubic hair plucking – about five times as much as the hair on your head. If you can stand to pluck ten whiskers from the same patch of skin in quick succession, you’re a bolder man than I. Facial nerves are sensitive. I have asked the question about waxing, and have been met with a universal look of horror. It would not be pleasant. The “eek” smiley doesn’t even begin to explain it…
I have never seen a woman with “manly” facial hair – it’s always a peach fuzz that probably has the most in common with arm or leg hair, and could easily be waxed.
Jurph, you forgot ear and nose hair.
Nose: The immediate inside ones (on the bottom inside) hurt and make eyes water. The rest are pretty painless.
Ear: Hurts nearly like arm hair (I’ve found). The inside ear ones are relatively painless.
General Hair Removal: I’ve heard great things about “Nair for Men” with the roll-on. I have yet to try it though.
Can’t say anything about ear hair, having never had any substantial enough to pull, but I’d rank nose hair with eyebrows for its consistency, but with facial hair for pain – again, those darn nerves inside your nose! Bytopian, are you also a plucker?
