Well I was once banned with several others, and allowed back, for politicking in GQ. But manhattan, who was moderating at the time and had done the banning, had made it clear that that our privileges would be reconsidered after appropriate apologies and promises to reform. I don’t know if the others came back as well.
IMHO if you inadvertently break a rule but are not a jerk, you should be given another chance, but … I don’t run this place.

seems to me that the folks that do run this place did give him/her ‘another chance’. actually it seems that they did much more than that.
He started multiple socks with the intent to troll and be a jerk. That’s a ban trifecta. You pretty much can’t come back from that.
Let’s keep Intelligent Design arguments in GD, OK? Socks can too spring forth from base yarn. I have several socks in my drawer even as we speak that demonstrate a clear transitional species.

Speaking from personal experience, I suspect those socks are actually springing back. De-eveolving, if you will, into their initial threads.
EDIT: Umm… that would be personal experiences with my socks. I have never come into cotact with Contrapuntal’s socks. His underwear, on the other hand, is a different story.

What if Satan apologized? Could he be allowed back? I know he was banned before I joined, but I’ve read some of his stuff and I think he’d be a great contributer now.

The history of returning bannees has not been a good one. A few people who had long-term behavior problems (which does not include those like Spectre of Pithecanthropus, who was temporarily banned for a relatively minor infraction before suspension started being used for a similar purpose) have been allowed back in after apologizing in the past. I only know of one such poster who was not banned again for the same behavior as before, and he skated close to the edge on occasion. AFAIK he no longer posts here.

I believe during the final months of his life on this board he was going through an employment/depression experience and it was reflected in his posts. That’s not an excuse, but it is a fact.
Has enough water gone under the bridge (and has his employment and mood changed?) that would allow consideration of an apology?
This assumes that an apology would be forthcoming. If he is still the way he was I don’t see one.
