Article 2, Section 1, Clause 5 of the U. S. Constitution states: > [@](#): > > No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States. However, it doesn’t put these same restrictions on the Vice President. Could, technically, Arnold run for VP? If he does and the Pres dies, what would happen? ---

Arnold isn’t eligible to be president; therefore, he’s also ineligible to be vice president. ---

GOP leadership will likely lobby to amend the Constitution to allow foreign-born naturalized citizens to run for the offices of POTUS and VPOTUS long before that, if Schwarzenegger proves to be even half as popular a governor as Reagan was. ---

Doubt what, exactly? U.S. Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah) has already publicly stated that he is interested in a constitutional amendment removing the restriction. ---
