Thank you all for contributing to my OP! Old D.B. will continue to fascinate us for many years, I think. The thing that makes him a sort of folk hero is that he did not hurt or kill anyone (except himself, possibly).
I don’t know how I missed that- well, I think I know. I started scrolling down, barely glancing at the transcript, until I got more than half way down and found the same time period covered (on p. 196-197) but no mention of oscillations. I’m not sure why, or why there appear to be two versions of the transcript. Maybe they covered two sets of communications, to Minneapolis Flight Ops and to Seattle.
I found it confusing, too. There are three different transcripts, two of which overlap, and the third which leaves a gap and only covers the flight to Reno after Cooper had jumped. As comprehensive as the site is overall, it’s a bit scattered with lots of typos. But at least it’s there.
