# Could I Market a Generic Razor Handle?

Yeah, these are what I’m referring to. Disposable plastic razors are horrible. Solid metal razors with a good DE blade are amazing. The one big caveat: the DE blades you can buy at drug stores are mediocre. Not abysmal, but spending $10-20 for a year or two worth of blades online will yield MUCH better results. I only buy “off the shelf” DE blades in serious pinch.

It’s worth being aware that the big manufacturers didn’t switch to cartridges because DEs weren’t good enough; it was because the “razor and blades” business model broke down when a bunch of manufacturers started making compatible blades.

I actually shave with a straight razor with disposable blades

I don’t find myself shaving as often, but it comes out fine when I do, and the blades are dirt cheap.
