What’s so controversal about that? Anyway, what I actually said was any man who had a problem with a woman not wanting to shake his hand had boundary issues and that I personally would consider him more capable of rape than a man who respects a woman’s right not to be touched. One of my faves was her assertion that adopted people have an obligation to make their adopted status public, in case they encounter anyone who has a religious proscription against contact with a person who is ritually unclean. Seriously, I can’t understand how you believe it’s acceptable for one parent to be able to make decision to have a child, especially when the non-consenting parent could have their lives and the lives of all their family members ruined by the birth of an unwanted child. You are literally willing to destroy the lives of dozens of already born, productive, contributing people so that one baby who potential is a complete unknown can be born. That is a completely bizarre allocation of resources. ---

Why not? It’s simple honesty and if it prevents causing someone embarassment or worse great guilt for having violated their religious tenets common courtesy would be to disclose. It’s no different then when I have guests for dinner or bring food to a potluck at work, I am always careful to label dishes that contain pork, meat, gluten whatever, so that no one violates their food beliefs. Besides if adoption is nothing to be ashamed of why do you care who knows it?
