Could they make med. implants for schizophrenia?

This made me flash back to med school days, when I was working in the psychiatric ER in a major city. Of course, there were many “frequent fliers” - people who would, every couple of weeks, just stop taking their antipsychotics and wind up being brought back to the psych ER by the cops. Some had such a regular “schedule” of showing up in the ER that the orderlies and the cops joked about wishing they could organize “haldol safari” trips, where they’d go around to these folks usual haunts every week or so and shoot them with medicated darts.

Coffeecat, I think the depot meds could work for him. He does well on oral meds, but for some reason he just stops taking them. It is hard to know what is best for him because when he talks his thoughts are not really coherent. I hope for his and my aunt’s sake that we can find some sort of treatment for him. I am certainly going to recommend she look into the depot shots because I do not think she is aware of them.
