Could this be the end of Bill O'Reilly (please please please)

Heheh.

Before the sexual harassment suit was filed, BO’R filed a suit against the Fox producer and her attorneys, alleging blackmail.

Link.

So, did the producer try to get money from BO’R before she filed the suit? “Give me $60 million or I’ll go public?” Was this an attempt to settle quietly or extortion? And did BO’R, knowing this suit was coming, just try to get in the first punch?

I think it’s still too early in the situation to make broad judgements. I’m going to sit back and see how this shakes out.

It’s way too early to assume the legal question of guilt–that’s for the courts to decide. But, c’mon, it’s only human to speculate. It’s not unheard of for a man in a powerful position to abuse his authority, and O’Reilly certainly seems to be the kind of egotistical jerk who would sexually harrass a woman if he thought he could do so with impunity.

So my verdict is: let’s see. Maybe he did it, maybe not, but it’s not out of character for O’Reilly to behave boorishly.

I don’t follow.

Maybe it was just worth a ‘heh’ rather than a ‘heheh’.

More true words have never been spoken.

Also:

There’s a word for this.

The Kobe Bryant case leaves me highly skeptical of the “he said, she said” approach, but, hey, the law is the law.

Yeah, man. Don’t go all crazy!

Seriously, at this point we know little enough about the case to make an informed judgement impossible. So why don’t we take a break from screaming until he’s found innocent or guilty and THEN roast him or not.

Whore is a loaded word. It offends me. It makes me wonder how a person who uses that word can truly believe in gender equality.

There’s also a rule against accusing people of it.

Given that O’Reilly offers no actual evidence in his complaint, that a request for 60 million dollars would be an absurd one for any real lawyer to make, and that it appears that this woman has tapes, I would guess that this is an attempt by O’Reilly and Fox to intimidate her out of dropping her lawsuit.

In he own complaint, BO’R is quoted in detail as raving about exactly what he’s do to any woman who tried to sue him…how he has Roger Ailes and Fox News on his side, how he has more money and can hire better lawyers, and how he would make any woman who complained seem “evil” and unstable.

Note that this word “evil” is exactly the one he’s currently using on his website.

It’s just another word for prostitute. How is it a loaded word and why does it offend you?

Cite, please.

That’s the most sensible thing I’ve read in this whole thread.

Don’t you fucking wish. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sam

I have to agree, reading TSG’s copies of the complaint. Either these are transcripts of tapes, or the plaintiff has an extrememly vivid imagination mascarading as photographic memory.

What’s the legality, BTW, of taping incriminating phone conversations when the offender is unaware of it? I can’t remember the details, but it may only be an issue if the call is being made from points across state lines.

slacker:

Are you wanting to have phone sex with him? :dubious:

Dunno if this has any relevancwe, but accoding to TSG, she worked for CNN between stints at Fox. During that time, her supervisor at CNN was fired for sexual harassment.

I can’t decide whther this makes her claim more or less believable.

Depends. Did the CNN supervisor get fired over her complaints, or somebody else’s? If the latter, she may just have shitty luck. If the former, there could be a troubling pattern.

Aren’t we all.
