MrsRico, who watches TV but I don’t, said she saw something about a current Chinese custom of replacing handshakes with waving feet at each other. IIRC in Arab and Muslim cultures, showing someone your shoe sole is a terrible insult, meaning they’re only the nastiness underfoot. More Uyghur hate, then? Don’t greet MBS this way unless suicidal. ---

Compare it to farting, biting your fingernails, and picking your nose in front of company. And it’s not just the sole of your shoe; it’s the bottom of your feet generally.
