Well, the trade-off would be that the not-super-active sports/video gaming/boardgaming threads would be more likely to fall to the second page (more overall topics), but the active threads would be an order of magnitude more likely to stay near the top of the first page (because forum game threads are… well, we’ve discussed that a ton here already). Since we’ve settled in a place where we have a small number of general threads for the major sports, I think this particular change would be an overall positive for sports. Less so for the other gaming topics, which less consistently get the kind of activity that would keep them afloat back in Cafe Society. I love it when we get a good gaming discussion going here, so I’d probably be against this change as well, but I could be convinced with a good argument.
I do appreciate the mod response, and I hope that we continue to build both the sports and gaming communities to the point where we can revisit this in the future. It’s not super fair that we get stuck with the forum game threads, but from a forum admin point of view it certainly makes sense to put it in the place with the lower volume of other activity. Hard to criticize the way things are set up now with the current sports/game posting levels.
