Okay, okay, please hear me out. While, yes, this thread is partially inspired by you-know-who, I also got the idea from a comedy show I enjoy. A running joke in one season is that this guy’s wife agrees to let him have no-strings-attached sex one time before their anniversary with someone other than herself. I’ll try not to spoil the payoff joke too much, but let’s say that he does find a beautiful woman who offers herself to him, but at the last minute he can’t go through with it because he finds out she’s a Republican.\* There seems to be a lot of contempt floating around over… let’s call her Joe Biden for the sake of this topic. Her name needs not to be mentioned again. But at the same time there seems to be a general concesus that… _Joe_, is an attractive woman… in that hot librarian-ish & played by Tina Fey on SNL sort of way. So what say you? \*SPOILER Yes, I’m referring to Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm. ---

Since most (if not all) of the people I politically despise would have a problem with what they’d call my lifestyle and I’d call my sexuality, there is absolutely no way I could enjoy sex without the openness that being out to that person would result in. ---

My former boyfriend was pretty far left and I am firmly non-partisan center (though yes, this time around I happen to be going for the folks on the R ticket). I had problems with quite a few of his political views, however… We had seriously hot sex. Daily. Sometimes more. 😃 ---

I remember a ladyfriend once upon a time (back in the Eighties) who was quite a long way to the Left of me… she had this recurring fantasy of where we’d get into a blazing row over politics and then I’d order her upstairs (yes, she was into being ordered about) where we’d settle it in bed with some furiously angry sex. Never happened though, what with her being married and all. ---

I’ve enjoyed sex with people whose politics, religion, and personality were despicable to me. There was a girl who believed any New Age crap she read about (apparently I have an orange aura with red spots), believed politically that we should live in some kind of hybrid communistic/anarchistic society, and thought that she was smarter than everybody she knew even though she lacked even the most basic knowledge about pretty much everything. She was an awesome fuck, though. ---

Yup and not just for sex but as a partner. I want a woman to have intense discussions/spirited debates (okay, arguments) with, I don’t want a me with boobs. Similarity in core values is one thing but how dull and uneducational it would be if we agreed on everything? ---

I’m a bleeding-heart liberal, but I try to be open minded. For me to politically **despise** someone, his personal and social values would have to be so diametrically opposed to mine that being anything more than coldly polite to him would be an impossibility. So no, sex wouldn’t be happening. Just casually declaring himself to be a Republican or a conservative isn’t enough to take someone out of the running. I’d need to know more. ---

With someone I politically \*disagree \*with? Sure. Early and often, even. I only \*despise \*people who have actual political power beyond that of the average citizen, who exercise it in ways that I deem detrimental to my country and the well-being of its people, in which case, it depends. What kind of sex? If I’m allowed to make it hurt, hells yeah. ---
