Could you leave friends ,work, family,
yes, everything?

For me,
I would deffently leave my country if I found
my true love and he couldn’t move here.
No doubt about it.

Hell yes, I would. I’d even leave my country for a good cheese.

Mmmmm. Cheese.

Well, I sure am thinking about it right now. Going to stay here for at least another year, though – teaching contract I can’t break, and besides, I want to make sure he _is_ the love of my life before I do anything too radical.

It should be noted that the country in question (England) has gun control, public transit, and some damned fine beer, which makes it a better place than America anyway. If I were to fall in love with someone who lived in Rwanda, I think he might be out of luck.

Absolutely I could. Now what country was that with the good cheese?

</div>

I would. Personally, I’m sure there are better countries to live in than the USA, and I’m willing to find out.

Especially if I had the best reason in the world to do so.

Yet, I doubt it. I am to much a coward.

It seems I am bound to this place… All my memories and life has been here. Every ghost and demon lurks at every corner. All the things that have made Osip, Osip.
I would like to think I would be able to move. Yet, I am still quite jaded and pessemistic in the believe of a one true love.

_sigh_ it has been a long night.
While some of you MAY think it would be interesting to know more about Osip and his views on such a topic… I shall not waste the bandwith.

</div>

Nope, not me. I’m too old and set in my ways. In fact, the scenario wouldn’t fit me, because there’s no way anybody could end up being the love of my life if it required a move to another country (and I consciously avoided saying _abroad_). Twenty years ago, yea, I would have. But not now.

I did, when my husband decided to go to grad school in the States. Much as I appreciate some things in SoCal, I can’t wait to move home again. Of course, maybe just moving east again would help.

</div>

Definitely. I’d love to get out of the US, and if I had a “true love” there, even better, because I could marry and get citizenship (I think). As long as it’s a better country, of course. I consider Canada and the Netherlands to be “better countries,” for example.

</div>

Nope. The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence, until you get there.
I doubt seriously that I would enter a long-term relationship with someone from another country for that very reason. I wouldn’t expect them to move here, and I know that I would not move there. It is a lot to ask someone to leave everything they have ever known. A relationship has enough strain and stress through everyday life without adding more.

Doing this wouldn’t involve leaving the country. Moving a couple of states away would do the same thing. 'Cause, man, this country is HUGE! I’ve done a couple of cross-country moves. Like I said in another thread, moving from Ohio to California is like changing planets.

That being said, there is no WAY I’d ever leave the USA. This is the greatest country in the world! We’ve got everything. Nowhere else comes close.

Well, maybe Canada, which is almost like America. They speak english and play baseball.

I have done so, and I’m settled here now. And I have to say the same thing about it that I do about pregnancy: Of **course** it was worth it, but do it **again**?!? NOOOOOO! :eek:

If my BF had to leave the country, or move anywhere, for whatever reason, I would follow him w/o question. But he’s the only one I would do that for.

Leaving the country I can do, it’s the other part that’s proving a leetle bit trickier.

I didn’t want to come back from Russia, but I do suppose the fact that I was a student and getting money without working had something to do with it.

But even now I’ve thought about living somewhere else than the U.S. - primarily Europe, though. Italy, Greece, Sweden… if I had met a woman from Europe when I was single and it really looked like this was IT, moving away from America would be something I’d consider almost immediately.

Of course, it would depend on what country it would be. but then again for some it wouldn’t even require that a love was there, just the delicious cheese and full flavoured beer would do.
Europe would definately not be a hard stretch, after living in France for a year I could definately see going back somewhere in Europe, and leaving the US doesn’t neccessarily mean you leave everythign behind forever, since by moving away doesn’t mean you’d be alienating yourself to all you left behind.
