# Could you make matzoh with Play-Doh?

Uhhh, well… Play-Doh is maybe not harmful to eat, but it’s certainly not meant to be eaten, and it doesn’t taste particuarly good, last I recall.

I’m not saying it would be GOOD matzoh. 😃
I’m just wondering if a flatbread made from Play-Doh would be acceptable to eat during Passover. It’s basically salt, flour and water. Matzoh are basically flour, and water. Does matzoh cease to be matzoh if you add some salt before baking?

The “dough” can’t be exposed to the air for more than 18 minutes before baking, or it’s not kosher. Also, AFAIK, kosher matzoh can only contain flour and water.

The play-dough we make at my preschool is flour, salt, cream of tartar, oil and water. I’ve never tried baking it, but it will dry completely in about 24 hours. It just crumbles, though, if you try to break it up after it’s dried.

Some of the dyes might be problematic, too: Some reds, at least, are made from insects and therefore tref.
