Court orders baby death

There are a documentary on conjoined twins on PBS a year or so ago. One set of twins were around 5. They were advised by doctors to surgically separate them because they were deteriorating. They knew going into it that the one twin would receive the lion’s share of organs. So they were prepared to deal with the other twin being on dialysis, etc. the rest of her life. Tragically, the weaker twin died. It was just heartbreaking, for the parents and especially for the surviving twin. She kept looking around her shoulder for her sister, who used to be there.

But had the parents not decided to have the surgery, do you think the court should have the same authority over older children? Because, I tell you, I have ethical problems with it.
