FIRST Robotics Competition [championships](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIRST_Championship) cancelled at Houston and Detroit. Around 800 high school teams in two events. This was supposed to be the culmination of 7 weekends of [competitions](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIRST_Robotics_Competition) with around 150 local competitions all over the world. The first two weekends were run (except for the Chinese events); before the third weekend the most of the rest were “postponed” or “suspended”. Most events were cancelled prior to teams arriving, but one team traveled from California to St Louis to compete, only to find when they got there that event was cancelled. (They did get good BBQ before returning.) Another event was canceled _after_ the Drive Team meeting on the field (sort of a repeating the rules and how to get on/off the field). That moaning your heard this week was 91,000 teens, 25,000 mentors, plus parents and volunteers after they heard the news. ---

Yes, that list includes nothing in Oregon, no community colleges, and none of the liberal arts colleges I know about. All were posted prior to the date/time stamp on that article. ETA: Add Bryn Mawr to the list. ---

Yeah, things are changing very fast. Given the number of colleges and universities in the U.S., it’s probably pointless to try to keep up with that category. If someone needs to know about a particular college or university, they can check the website. ---

In addition to the NCAA basketball tournaments, the NCAA hockey tournament was cancelled. And my alma mater’s team was having one of its better years, so I’m a little annoyed. ---

Many places are postponing jury trials. Also, Denver Public Schools is shutting down. So, too, with the LA County school district. ---

Kansas City area schools closed, St Patrick’s Day Parade cancelled, Snake Saturday Parade cancelled. Went to Captain D’s for lunch, and I was the only person in line. Normally a 5-20 minute wait for food - they handed it to me as I was sitting down in the waiting area. ---

The [Japanese Street Festival](http://www.sakuramatsuri.org/) that coincides with the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC has been postponed. This was their 60th year so they say they are still planning to hold it at some time in the future.
