I was a bit worried that I wouldn’t be able to get the new vaccine for some time since my last booster was in May. But according to the FDA release, you can get the new one if it’s been more than two months since your last dose.

I’ve got quite the schedule ahead of me. I don’t like to get more than one vaccination at a time. Up first will be covid, then RSV and finally the flu shot, over the span of a month or so.

Great news!
I’m on Day 8 of quarantine because three people I talked to last week came down with Covid in the next couple of days. My daughter, who works with those three and a student who also tested positive after coming to school the day before, was last exposed on Wednesday. We’ve been wearing masks in the house and eating only separately in our bedrooms or outside. Mr. Legend feels guilty that we have to be so careful not to pass Covid along to him. We are READY for an updated vaccine!

I did RSV two weeks ago, and i plan to get the covid and flu shots at the same time, probably in October.

I just found out my health insurance plan (Blue Shield of California) does not cover the new RSV vaccine. My pharmacy wanted to charge me $300 for it!

The updated novavax covid vaccine was just approved by the FDA. The CDC is expected to recommend it shortly.

It’s supposed to have lesser side effects than the mRNA vaccines. I plan to get it to collect the set. (I’ve had Pfizer, j&j, and Moderna. I’ve been joking that i gotta catchem all for more than a year.)

I got Moderna (the latest booster) and the flu shot last Friday, planning to get RSV in a week or so. Does it really make a difference if I try to get this new COVID vax? I live a semi-hermit life, mask up whenever inside stores, offices, etc., and my area has a low incidence.

Oh. I didn’t understand that, either. No, there’s no benefit to getting a second dose of the fall 2023 covid vax right after getting one. There’s probably not much difference between the three available options, either. (Pfizer, Moderna, and Novavax.)
I chose to get Novavax instead of Pfizer or Moderna, mostly just because since the pandemic started, I got at least one dose of each of the other three brands (J&J isn’t on the market any more, but it was when I got it, although I actually got it via a clinical trial.)

Maybe I’ll look into it in the spring. Or I may just stick with Moderna, which is what I’ve been getting so far.

Yeah, they’re basically the same thing. Get one of them, but there’s no sense in getting more than one.

If you got a Moderna covid shot this fall after the new one came out – I think it was September – then you’re up to date and unless your doctor tells you to because of something about your particular condition you shouldn’t need another until another new version comes out; which probably won’t be till next fall.
I keep getting Pfizer because that’s what’s available in my area. I could get one of the others if I hunted around and went a bit further, but it doesn’t seem worth it. I don’t know whether there’s really any advantage to switching brands; though I don’t think there’s any disadvantage, either.
