My niece is pregnant and unvaccinated, which might be a concern over the interactions. But her husband is a Trumper and also unvaccinated, as are many of their family. I don’t think I’ll be attending the baby shower in FL. ---

Thanks @JKellyMap and @puzzlegal It would be grossly misleading to blame it all on COVID, but I suspect that, as it has been for other broken relationships, the pandemic was a tripwire to landmines that have been there all along. ---

Get the kitten. It will make you feel better. I’ve thought about getting a puppy or a kitten. My landlords won’t allow it. I don’t have enough cash to buy a home anymore - not with hedge funds buying shit up everywhere I look. ---

You can’t outlogic a belief system. I have stopped trying, he’s going to do what he wants, I’m going to do what I want. George (my Maine Coon kitten) is growing like a weed. I have the same friend! I have a group of six women friends (all in our 70s and one in her 80s) who have been getting together monthly for the last 28 years (as of this month). But this one leftover flower child woo-woo new-agey nut who also travels around in her camper truck (she’s currently in far West Texas and will probably turn up at the same crystal-sucking festival as your friend) told us last year when the vaccines became available that she did not plan to get one. When some of us questioned the wisdom of that decision (in an ongoing text thread) she went off in a huff saying she didn’t want to be around such negativity. Like your friend, she thinks her superior immune system, positive thinking, and the Law of Attraction will protect her. I have completely lost respect for her. ---

I’m not sure of that. I’m just going by what my niece told me, as I haven’t had any contact with them except for a few Facebook posts she made with photos of her children. The last time we spoke was at the family Christmas get-together in 2019, and he didn’t say anything that made me think he was a Trumpite. But then, my family hardly ever talks about politics.
