If in fact that’s even a habit, I’ve been seeing qualifying language that suggests he wasn’t in combat or in-country. So he gets it and I can appreciate that. You have to be careful when denigrating people’s service, if you do that sort of thing. Personally I would avoid it.

Phillips wanted to draw attention to himself, and to his cause. I think it’s safe to assume that Phillips would be aware of his own history. Once you turn the internet loose, there doesn’t seem to be any way of controlling where it goes.

It looks like Trump’s ratings have gone up. Perhaps if yellow dog Democrats, progressives, and liberals took the time to actually listen to what their opposition had to say, they wouldn’t become perplexed.

Not even close. I’m talking about the school who thought it was a great idea to send their students to a public demonstration in support of their own ideology. A Christian ideology, we are given to misunderstand. Been to any number of demonstrations myself, I know that sometimes they go smoothly and intelligently, sometimes they are infected by shit-disturbers.
I would not approve of a school sending children to an anti-war demonstration, however much I may approve of the effort. My own son, either I would be there with him or he isn’t going.
If Phillips was trying to be a peacemaker, why did he actually physically get up against a boy who was just standing there quite still? It seemed like he was trying to provoke him, and the boy wouldn’t bite.

The NY Post isn’t “the internet.” Its an news source that has an editorial staff that is capable of making editorial decisions and they chose to publish this story. It was completely within their control.
An amazingly large amount of our monkey brains are connected reading facial expressions. I see a snotty young man sneering, you see an innocent lad terrorized by a face drumming. There are no facts.

This is how things work around here. Poster child for a group of rowdy, misogynistic, abusive jerks clearly out for a fight? Softball questions, “do you feel sorry”, etc. Non-white guy who tried to break things up: “We have some questions about your war record”.
If you can’t see the white supremacy in action you aren’t paying attention. This is how it always goes. Rich white kids are extended a big fat olive branch and chance after chance after fucking chance. Literally anyone else who is potentially victimized by the rich white guy? Leave no stone unturned. Find whatever you can. Do they have a criminal record? I mean, sure, it’s completely fucking irrelevant, but let’s publish it! Do they have some positive attributes? Quick, try to smear it! Remember - Sandmann’s mom hired a PR firm to get this shit fixed. Because of course she did. She’s rich. And white. She can afford it.

If you can’t see it by now, you’re not paying attention. You want to know how this is still a story? Because this keeps fucking happening.
It is easy to tell who was at fault here, if you look closely. The problem is, is that you are paying attention to what they are doing, and you are not paying nearly enough attention to the color of their skin. Once you realize that that “snotty young man sneering” is the white person in this interaction, then you will come to realize that he is the one who is in the right, and it is the non-white man who is entirely at fault for everything that happened.
Others in this thread have very easily jumped to that conclusion, why is it so hard for you?
I think it might be that the story itself is so much of a Rorschach inkblot that many posters are eagerly displaying their stupidity in describing what they see in it.
