This. And they can STAY gone.
You forgot the Orcs and dragons and White Walkers
This. We’ve had enough of it. It is TOO close to the tiki torch “fine people” garbage.
I appreciate people like you, who can ignore the evidence of their own eyes in favor of what their political party tells them to see. I really want to become a right-wing thought leader for a while so that, as a social experiment, I could test just how much I could distort your perceptions.
Obviously you can be moved from “that kid was instigating a confrontation” to “that kid wasn’t instigating a confrontation”, but could I get you to believe the kid was wearing a monkey costume at the time? I think I could. In fact, I bet I could get you to feel a sense of superiority over the dumb Libs who couldn’t see the obvious monkey suit.
Well, sure. But they’re allegedly doing this because Jesus* loves the little unborn babies. So when
their underlying message is that their Jesus is an asshole. Just sayin’.
*Yes, I know there are non-Christian and even atheist pro-lifers, but all the non-Christian pro-lifers at the march coulda probably gotten there in a single bus.
I know I’m repeating myself, but these schools organize these field trips to take their students to DC to march in an anti-abortion rally. These kids are in town to make a political statement. These schools are actively encouraging these kids to make a statement, and represent their school while doing so, so that the school can fundraise behind it.
In this Age of “Intellectual Property Rights” run rampant, draw a picture of Winnie-the-Pooh or make a joke about Sleepy, Sneezy, Grumpy and Whatishisname, and expect the Disney Lawyer’s Brigade to jump on top of you.
Why then are American assholes and racist institutions allowed to use the word “Christian”? I’m no religious scholar and wouldn’t even be able to define Christianity.
But modern American “Christianity” — that ain’t it.
So Christian schools can fundraise off of being assholes in the name of the Lord.
How jesusfreakin’ wonderful.
Interesting to contemplate folks who loved the Gillette ad’s take on ‘toxic masculinity’ viciously dogpiling kids who are too young to shave…
What makes you think a bunch of 16-year-olds aren’t shaving? I was when I was that age…
…Also, anyone wanna take bets on how this would be seen if they were black and poor, rather than rich and white?
EDIT: second part may be fake, removing it anyways.
Contemplating your navel is just as easy…and just as useful.
As though these kids had serious views on Roe v Wade. Let one of em knock up his girlfriend and be faced with giving up his college plans to find work and be a dad. That’s when you’ll find out what he thinks of Roe v Wade.
I wonder how many of them have taken chastity vows.
Here’s a long video of the events leading up to the incident. Surprised no one has posted it yet.
Ignore the first hour or so. The BI’s become aware of the school kids at about 1:07. Before that they were mostly annoyed by a skateboarder that kept circling them, the video contains a lot of not-so-veiled threats against him. The BI that is preaching does call the kids “incest babies” once as he notices them, but mostly he is preaching against the Trump “make America Great” theme. At a little bit after 1:09:30 the kids erupt. One of the kids pulls off his shirt in a dramatic fashion and leads the rest of the boys in an organized chant of WALL WALL WALL. Then all hell breaks loose.
Maybe at Covington Catholic, WALL WALL WALL is a school spirit chant. It seems to capture the spirit of that school.
Or have had to.
Well, if they’re 16 I take it back but they look younger to me. Also, if they were black and poor they’d still be dogpiled by assholes, but it’d just be a different set of assholes.
Interesting to contemplate someone who’s evidently decided what I must have said in this thread, without bothering to actually read it.
One of my best friends dated the daughter of a strongly anti-abortion GOP Congressman. The girl left him, became a Catholic and got knocked up by a fellow Catholic. The anti-abortion Congressman then insisted the daughter get an abortion! My friend (a flagrant liberal) wrote to Congressman, offering to help and promising that the secret was safe despite the blatant hypocrisy.
You decided that, A) I have a political party, B) It tells me what to see and C) that I’m a right winger (hint, you are wrong on all counts), while accusing me of only seeing what I want to see; the only thing you’ve demonstrated is that you are perfectly OK with manufacturing derogatory, spurious assumptions as a basis on which to judge others.
Seems to me that you are not in a position from where to lecture me about distorted perceptions.
Rather funny though, that you went there in response to a post which included the point “it’s much easier to substitute reality with an appropriately validating narrative”; you are exhibiting the same behaviour I was talking about.
In any case, in case you didn’t seem to notice while busily concocting a suitably deplorable profile of me, my objections are against Internet mob behaviour, any comments on that?
The kids and their families have been receiving threats, large numbers of people are pilling on demanding punishment of one type or another; I think that is bullying and harassment and it is bad as a matter of principle, bad for the people at the receiving end, bad for those who let hate control their actions and bad for the whole society in which this happens.
This may not be a popular opinion, but I think the Russian (and other foreign) shit stirrers are getting a lot of traction with this story on both sides. Really whipping up a frenzy sharing this all over social media!
