# Cower to the Cowboys?

I really liked Cower as a coach and will try to root for him if he goes back to coaching, but if he goes to the Cowboys, man I just won’t be able to.
But he never seemed like the type of man who could work within that organization.

I don’t see Cowher as a guy who would accept being under Jones’ thumb (a requisite to being a coach in Dallas), but as a staunch Cowboys hater with no love for Cowher, I’d love to see Jones open up his wallet enough to lure him there just to watch it fail spectacularly when he’s forced to play his system with Jerry’s players.
The only thing better, in my mind, would be if Jon Gruden got the job.

I’m looking at Cowher as my consolation prize for if the Giants have a season-ending collapse and miss the playoffs. Coughlin out, Cowher in.

I’m absolutely certain that Jason Garrett will be the head coach next year. I have believed all along that if the Cowboys won even a FEW games down the stretch, Garrett would get the job. As it is, they’ve won more than a few, and they’ve been close and competitive in EVERY game since Garrett took over.
I’m NOT saying Garret SHOULD be the head coach. He did a lousy job as offensive coordinator the past few seasons, and he deserves as much blame for the Cowboys’ terrible start as anybody. But he’s one of Jerry’s favorites, going back to his days as Troy Aikman’s backup QB. Jerry probably WANTED to make Jason the head coach several years ago- that’s ONE reason Wade Phillips could never command much respect. Players KNEW that Wade wasn’t really in charge, and that Jason was head coach in waiting.
In any case, it’s no secret that Bill Cowher has always WANTED the Carolina Panthers job, and the Panthers have been so bad this year, he’ll probably get his wish. John Fox will finally get fired, and Bill Cowher will get his dream job in Carolina.

I agree that Jones definitely wants Garrett to get a shot and that Cowher will go to Carolina if he goes anywhere next season. However there’s the lockout question.

Not a chance. Cowher could not handle the Jerry Jones input.
I’m intrigued by these NY rumors, though. I personally think that NYC would eat Cowher alive. He’s not very good at criticism, so I think NY is out, also.
Carolina makes the most sense for so many reasons.
However, Dallas and NY will offer him gobs of money. And he has a big ego, so we’ll see.

Carolina is out; they suck too much. Dallas was never in play because the owner is too hands-on.

I tuned in just a little late to the pregame show - it seemed as if Cower had just given a speech about his intentions. James Brown had just said: Thanks Coach and please be assured if we have any questions, we will ask them straight out.
But I missed the details.

He was upset that some media had implied he was rooting for coaches to be fired. (i.e. so HE’D get the job)

I know it’s odd but I have to wonder if the death of his wife is what caused him to think about a return to coaching. He may feel that he needs to get “back on the saddle” to help get over his grief.
