I see your argument, but I’m afraid I must counter with:

which is really, really tough to beat. 😛

One of the best things about hiring people to move your stuff is that they are really good packers. The 2 times I have hired people to move my stuff they have totally kicked ass on the packing part. Every thing wrapped up well and man they were fast. Of course the packers came out a day or two before to have everthing packed when the trucks arrived. I recomend that you look into seeing if the moving company can do the packing also.

Oy! I’m a goth chic, and when we moved last summer we had everything packed and beer and pizza for the movers! We’re not all bad!

I helped a good friend move last summer. When I got to her place none of the furniture had been disassembled, none of the boxes were taped shut, and nothing had been organized. She was working that day, and her husband’s best friend had offered to drive the U-Haul.

The moving team was me (short chick), her husband, friend of mine, and Husband’s Best Friend. The guys were all pretty big and pretty strong. Husband’s Best Friend moved _nothing_. He hung around chatting on his cell phone while mostly me and my friend hoisted all the damn heavy unpacked crap down the stairs, into the truck, and then out at their new place.

It was eight billion degrees, July, and this idiot went staggering around with a cell phone in one hand and his coffee (‘I’d love to get you some, but I’m busy with important calls’) _watching us lift everything_.

He also insulted me condescendingly about my religion on the ride to the new place. I’m not sure why I didn’t hit him with an axe.

They’re thinking of moving again this fall. I will not participate on humanitarian grounds.
