We are talking here about the [del]sociopath[/del] [del]psychopath[/del] creature (I refuse to call him a man, or a human) with antisocial personality disorder who feels a need to wear its steel dick for all to see [when it shops at Lowe’s or WalMart.](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=15787547&postcount=29) I don’t know what it’s afraid of. Perhaps the Salvation Army bellringer is lying in wait for it, or an illegal alien in the Lowe’s parking lot might ask it for a job. Given the choice between a) keeping my car and living with the current accident rate, and b) giving up my car and a guarantee there will never be another accidental traffic death in this country, my choice is completely obvious under that scenario. I would be directly responsible for saving more lives than any one human in history, and I’d probably get tired of flying to Oslo to accept yet _another_ Nobel Peace Prize.
