No joke Joey about the police station (If they seem iffy). I usually meet people at Wal-Mart or Target near me for small things. I have also had people come to my house for furniture, my convertible Camaro, etc. But, in these cases the buyers and I have exchanged home phone #s, cell phone #s, and/or texts.
The internet purchase exchange location is great!

Doesn’t the fact that both Marty and Quanta show up as killskull 55 scream crank yanker? Wouldn’t the mother also be seeing the e-mails about the “surprise” sewing machine.

It probably makes it more likely, but I’ve seen stuff like that before. In any case, you don’t need to worry – just reply, and set up a safe exchange, and if they show up with money, great; if not, then no worries.

They just seem like the type that give people the runaround. I usually weed them out. Lucky for me, there have not been too many of these people.
I’m thinking of telling him to meet me at the police station and take a picture on his cell with date and time when he gets there and send it to the anonymous e-mail. Safe place, he won’t know my address, and I don’t have to show if he doesn’t provide the picture.

Perhaps the mother has access to the son’s email account and looks over it from time to time for evidence of internet tomfoolery? But she doesn’t check it all the time, and he thought he could slide an email by her before she noticed.

I like an audience too. I’ve only once had a scammer on Craigslist, when I was looking for a housemate. I mentioned that I expected rent in cash and they melted away. I always ask for cash only. It gets rid of a lot of scammers.
