Stupidity. Okay, so you want a way to make sure any servant, etc, is quickly at your mercy should he/she try something. And then you want to make sure your rivals are easily stopped if they try something. And then next thing you know your whole family has the heart plugs. It has become an established convention in action movies that an action hero can do things that would be impossible for an Olympic gymnast. It necessarily follows that the hero will do such things, regardless of practical combat utility, simply because of the Rule of Cool.
