The Matthew Broderick movie _Out on a Limb_ was complete shi’ite, but it did feature two idiot characters who were both named Jim (brothers, but named after different relatives.) All of their scenes were priceless, and in fact I dubbed a tape of just their scenes spliced together. Makes for a bizarre, nonsensical short film. 🙂

Recently, I forced myself to watch _Dude, Where’s My Car?_ from beginning to end (and I’m still in therapy as a result) but it did have ONE funny moment – at the start, when a fat, hairy guy walks out of the broom closet, says good morning, pees in the aquarium, says good night and goes back into the closet. Dude #1 says, “So how did you meet Joe, anyway?” Dude #2: “Joe? I thought he was _your_ friend!” Heheh.

**High Spirits** a 1988 film set in Ireland. Peter O’Toole will lose the ancestral home unless it becomes a popular tourist stop–hey, a haunted castle, what an idea! He & his faithful retainers stage some unconvincing hauntings for a hapless group of American tourists. Then, the _real_ ghosts appear…

This movie does not hang together, but some bits are worth seeing:

Peter Gallagher (in a Roman collar) is a seminarian taking one last vacation before ordination. Jennifer Tilley does her best to convince him he really shouldn’t take that vow of celibacy.

Peter O’Toole is the deranged Anglo-Irish aristocrat, Peter Plunkett. When scenery must be chewed, hire the very best!

Liam Neeson is a ghost, enamored of Beverly D’Angelo, wife of the hero (Steve Guttenberg). What a choice–who wouldn’t select the afterlife? (Warning: As edited for TV, Liam’s shower scene is usually cut. He’s truly a fine figure of a man/ghost.)
