I resisted, simply because I have a legitimately “crazy” ex girlfriend (whom I thankfully have not seen in more than 10 years), but I finally succumbed. Whoa! It’s a musical! Awesomesauce! ---

Yep. It’s fantastic! Some utterly hilarious original songs and the plot is actually fairly interesting. CW is doing some really great stuff these days (Arrow, The Flash, Jane the Virgin, and now this). ---

You know, in the last episode I thought about that a bit - I applaud the show for starring a woman who isn’t your classic super thin TV star, and showing her as super sexy to boot. Of all the people in the show, it seems like only Josh and Valencia (what is Josh’s GF’s name?) are the classic supermodel looking TV characters. Everyone else is more ‘normal’ looking (well, really attractive normal looking, but still). ---

Sorry about not getting back here … new job has me working odd hours and I didn’t back to the show. I’m a bit disappointed that the discussion ended after three replies; it makes me worry that not many people are watching the show. Just watched Ep. 4. I think the show really hits its stride with this one. It’s clear that Josh is, basically, a “man-child”, unworthy of Rebecca’s obsession (but, then, obsession doesn’t have to make sense). I liked the character development for the neighbor girl, Heather. And I find myself identifying with Greg (though I imagine that he was probably _designed_ to be the character for male viewers to identify with). Trivia: Did you know that that actor was the voice of Hans, in _Frozen_? During one of the date scenes, I was kind of proud of myself when the [Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triangle_Shirtwaist_Factory_fire) was mentioned, and I immediately knew what they were talking about 😛 And the best friend/coworker: Can you say, “enabler”? Favorite line from the episode, when Rebecca has the bag of goodies, and she bumps into Heather, and mentions that she’s gonna go “all ‘Cathy’ comic strip” 😃 ---

We finally started watching last week and fell in love. We finished all the already-aired episodes within a week and I don’t want to wait for more. It reminds me of many other shows in little ways, yet it’s completely original. I am sure the whole Josh-Rebecca-Greg thing will get old quick so it will all depend how that plays out, and of course whether enough people are watching. ---

I’m watching too, and am staying fairly up to date (watching from the PVR a few days later). I liked the Thanksgiving episode, and I like the “enabler” co-worker a lot. I agree that’s it’s got a lot of original ideas, as well as having killer musical numbers. Glad to hear they got a few more episodes, I guess I’ll check back in with the thread next year, after the “winter finale”. ---

I heard the ratings weren’t great so I was afraid they’d make it go away after the “winter finale,” which is now apparently a thing (stupid new way of marketing an extended rerun hiatus) and I’d never see it again. I’m sorry to go against the opinions of people who like this show. The lead actor and most of the other actors are indeed very talented. The writers are extremely adept at their craft and it’s hard to pinpoint exactly why I find this show so disappointing. I think it’s because no matter how talented the people are and how clever the writing is, on the whole, this show just does not come together. The overall impression is that it’s just kind of weird. Many people here have said many time that for a show to be good, first and foremost, it has to tell a good story - an interesting story. This show tells a silly story. And it’s just not funny. Sorry. And that’s a real shame. I wanted to like it. Honest I did. But it just doesn’t work for me. Maybe I am in the minority. But I’d be very surprised if this show actually gets renewed for another season. There may be some talk of it getting renewed. But I think they are just hyping it to try in vain to save it. ---

Just caught up with the most recent episode. I don’t think the show is disappointing but I do agree that it’s at its worst when centering on the actual “ex-girlfriend” theme. I like all of the characters and I’ve enjoyed every single subplot more than anything involving the lead pining over Josh. I particularly liked the Christmas episode - the parallel mother stories were well done. Overall, very entertaining and I hope it gets picked up for more episodes. I also hope that the writers have a tight story arc in mind - I can’t see it staying this entertaining for more than a couple seasons. ---
