# Creepiest Halloween Songs

Honestly, how is it not Judas Priest’s “The Ripper”? I’m not talking about novelty songs, but ones that are seriously creepy. And they have to be rock songs.
Aside from maybe Pantera’s “Cemetary Gates”, I can’t think of a better candidate.
It’s short, heavy, scary and has all the operatic heavy metal singing you could want. Pretty creepy tune. Got one better?
If you counter with “Monster Mash” I’m going to kill you.

Nonsense.
Halloween songs, by definition _have_ to be novelty songs.

I have a Halloween playlist that’s about 28 hours long. It runs the gamut from novelty-ish (no, not Monster Mash’s ilk) stuff to metal and alternative to movie songs (gotta have some Rocky Horror and Nightmare Before Christmas). Since the OP is looking for more metal stuff, well there’s pretty much everything Type O Negative, but for one that specifically mentions Halloween I gotta go with Black No. 1 (Little Miss Scare -All) [Type O Negative - Black No. 1 (Little Miss Scare -All) [HD Remaster] [OFFICIAL VIDEO] - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFwYJYl5GUQ), because loving you was like loving the dead.
I’ll also throw in Raining Gold by ARO, as it’s fairly recent [ARO - Raining Gold - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KToT4MaglaM) and I like the song, and the video is pretty WTF and well done.
Then there’s fun stuff like Re: Your Brains by Jonathan Coulton ["Re: Your Brains" by Jonathan Coulton - Moontalk Productions [HD] - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81qIUuExQmQ) which isn’t scary, but can’t argue about musical chops and certainly something to add to a Halloween party playlist.

Coulton also has “Creepy Doll” (which is, well, creepy) and “Blue Sunny Day” (which isn’t, but involves a vampire).
And his colleagues-in-song Paul and Storm have “Live” (a rather sweet Frankenstein-esque song) and “Cruel, Cruel Moon” (about how werewolves can complicate your love life).
I can’t think of any rock songs that are creepy per se. I suppose one could add QotSA’s “Burn the Witch” to the playlist but it’s not very disturbing.

Several years ago I had a tape I made for Halloween which was basically a loop of the instrumental part of Pink Floyd’s “Echoes” (the part that sounds like screeching seagulls) and the instrumental part of Genesis’ “Waiting Room” (a.k.a. “The Evil Jam”) from The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.
Also a shout out to Alan Parsons Project “Fall of the House of Usher” from Tales of Mystery and Imagination.
