I was wasting time on YT & went down what turned into a click-bait rabbit hole to a video about commercials that haven’t aged well. Some were by now-notorious spokespeople; OJ, Coz, etc.. Some were for now changed mores; a woman was catcalled & turned to the camera & said, “Thank you {weight loss company}” There was one for Freshen Up gum (because of the double entente); it was the gum that had flavored liquid in the middle & you got a squirt when you bit into it. Now I don’t chew a lot of gum but I did occasionally like that gum. I haven’t heard of it in a long time (but then I don’t really look in the gum section of the grocery store, either. I go over to Google & type it in & I learn that a) they stopped making it in 2019 & b) I can still buy it, on ebay, either a single pack or a whole box of it. Not only is it wildly overpriced but it’s a (soft) food product that’s _at least_ six years old. Surely that gum is hard by now, & that’s _if_ there’s some ingredient that hasn’t gone bad in it. I sure as hell ain’t buying it to put into my mouth. Who would _really_ buy something like this, other than _possibly_ a set/props person for a movie/TV show? ---

That’s how life was portrayed back then. It really wasn’t like that, although there may have been some homes that it was a funhose reflection of. I just really don’t think it’s that terrible. He’s respectful to her, for the time, and is even concerned that stew is a lot of work. I do agree with the comments above aout the amont of stew and the impossible quiet of the trash can. I don’t find it creepy. It’s just an example of the way certain people saw life back then, and would like to jam us into that tiny suffocating mold again. The ice cream commercials? ~shudder~ That is creepy, disturbing, and it would encourage me to buy any other brand, or put me off ice cream altogether. ---

It put me off ice cream, and sour cream, and clotted cream, and cold cream, and creaming my jeans, and mayonnaise and white paint. ---

Don’t forget marshmallow creme! (In fact it looks like that’s what they’re using in the commercial). Though one need not view that advertisement to be put off by marshmallow creme. Unlike ice cream, sour cream, and possibly other white foods that are actually good, marshmallow creme has always been terrible. ---
