Well that just about stuffs that royally! Tell Starcy he’s got to defend 200 Langer has been insistent all week that Handscombe would play over Wade. Wade hasn’t mistimed a ball for 18 months. Handscombe survives two good lbw shouts, doesn’t get the middle of the bat to any of his 12 deliveries and gets caught on the crease and bowled neck and crop through a dinosaur sized gap. Should cost him his job even if they win. ---

Unreal focus from Carey to get hit on the jaw, catch his helmet and keep his eye on the ball. ---

This is a huge partnership in this game. I still back Australia to get to something defendable (Maxwell, Stoinis and Cummins all know which end of the bat is which but none of them likely set up for a long innings) but it will be up to Smith and Carey to get them much of the way there, I think. ---

Should cost him his job even if they win. On the bright side I get an early night 🙂 Seriously, it may give Smith, Carey and eventually Maxwell (or maybe soon) a chance to show their credibilty. I can’t see Australia doing a NZ though. ---

Exactly. Good start by England but unless AUS fail to get to three figures, they have the bowlers to give it a good go. pt, did you mean Langer’s job or Handscomb’s? ---

Could live with both. But l’m of the old school who think the Australian coach has four wheels and an engine and takes players to the ground. Handscombe has shown either he isn’t in the form his coach thinks or his technique has flaws that will be found out in thecAshes. ---

I mean Carey probably has a hairline fracture of the jaw and he still looks like what he is, a batsman in form. Did Handscombe play one ball with authority? ---

OK, now 3-113 off 26. At what point do you good judges think puts AUS back on par for four (4) wickets down? I think 140 off 30. ---

It would be interesting to look at the stats, actually, but my overall impression had been that England will chase down anything. There have been some games where Eng have gone out, scored massive, and bowled the opposition out, but that hadn’t been their preference. ---

With it being umpire’s call on both impact and stumps, that was a particularly important 3 second appeal by Rashid to implore the umpire to get his finger up. ---

I thought Australia were looking a bit better however those two wickets left me a little sad . Still I hope for 200 which seemed impossible at the 10 innings mark. Still have my money on England. ---
