We’re not even at the halfway point and I feel reasonably comfortable in saying England have lost this. They’re going to set no target of substance - may not even get through to the 20th over. The Ali dismissal was brainless - leave it alone and it’s a wide. Root, most unlike him, seemed to panic a bit and feel that he needed to try something he didn’t need to. ---

I missed a lot of the England innings as I was out for a walk (got a bad back, needed to move a bit) and came back right before Root was out. I genuinely thought we were on a disaster, but this is now doable. Difficult but doable. ---

The tail (if it is a tail, given Willey has a domestic T20 100 to his name and Rashid at 11 has first class tons to his name) worked very hard to give themselves something to bowl at - but I think England are 20 runs short. They’re going to need to take wickets early to try and ramp the pressure up. ---

Fuck - didn’t quite manage to get Samuels, dropped Bravo in the deep and now they’re in position to really swing from the hips at the end of the innings. Spoke to soon - obviously - earlier; we are going to have to bowl well at the depth. We should at least get there. Though, as I type, Bravo miscues one and out he goes. Still a lot of hitting to come though.
