> For most of my shots I bump up the contrast and saturation a bit, but I really don’t move the sliders very much for either. Like about 10% for each.

Well, I guess maybe it was really really green to start with but just to my eye it looked over-corrected. Maybe it didn’t even need that 10%. I’m no expert at this stuff but I find that I almost never increase saturation at all, but often raise contrast.

Take this for what you will, I’m neither a professional nor an amateur photographer.

I really like most of them, but you asked for a critique so let me tell you about my least favorite of your group: Low Winter Sunrise. First, the color mismash hurt my eyes to look at. I think it has to do with the lack of focus in the picture. There’s nothing for the eye to catch on to say this is what I’m supposed to zero in on, so my eyes end up seeing everything. It’s too monotone in color so it becomes hard to differentiate sky from water. The posts and wood in the water, even in that low of light, lack detail to them. It all becomes muddied.

It’s a picture where I get _why_ you wanted to take it, but I’m failing to understand what it is about this particular picture that you want me to appreciate.

Thanks for the comments. I appreciate what you’re saying about that shot. Obviously, I love that spot at the lake as I’ve been out multiple times. Every time you’re there you get a different mood, sky, water, etc.

With this shot, I just like the calm mood of it - with the way the old posts take your eye up and through the frame. It would definitely be stronger if they were leading your eye to something at the end though. A boat or something in the sky. That one was a 30-second exposure and I really liked the way it made the clouds blur and also how the light reflected off of the water in spots.
