But what I was suggesting as being ‘a bridge too far’ for some who are disposed to be unsympathetic to victims, is the overt job-related retaliation Cuomo apparently practiced–transferring those who complained to dead-end jobs, etc. Trump was never accused of that. If he had been, it might have tested the ardor of some of his fans. They were okay with him groping, and even with him insulting those he groped. But if the stories had been about him, as President, using the power of the Presidency to harm the careers of those he groped—well, we’ll never know. ---

And now Roberta Kaplan, chairwoman and co-founder of the group Time’s Up and a lawyer who represented Ms. De Rosa in the AG’s investigation, [has resigned from her position with Time’s Up](https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/09/nyregion/roberta-kaplan-times-up-cuomo.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage). The AG’s investigation had revealed Ms. Kaplan had reviewed an Op-Ed letter attacking Cuomo’s first accuser, Lindsey Boylan. The letter was never published. For those not familiar with the group, Time’s Up was founded by prominent Hollywood women to fight sexual abuse in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein mess.
