I loved the original series, so of course I watched, and I couldn’t help but compare them. After last night, I was sort of “meh.” And so this morning, while getting up, I found the original on YouTube and watched the pilot again. A lot of the Trevor/Claire dialogue was redone, nearly word for word, as were a couple of the situations, though not the main couple. I think the main difference before me is that Jeremy Piven really did seem like an honest to goodness force of nature. Like he might have been the avatar of the kind of love that he describes (love at first sight, explosive, sparks flying, with the passion and the heat, etc.). I’ve seen Bobby Canavale play that kind of character before, but in last night’s episode, he was just too nice. I’ll still probably watch until it gets canceled again. ---

I never watched the earlier version, so can’t compare. Bobby Canavale seemed fine to me. He’s got a mischievous baby face that seems to work for the character. I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to keep watching without slipping into a sugar coma as people find twoo wuv every week. ---

I don’t hate Sarah Paulson, but I feel like she’s not so much a comic actress as a girl who’s put in comedy to laugh at the funny guy. Did she ever do anything funny in _Studio 60_? OK, bad example, the only funny character in _Studio 60_ was the Chinese girl. ---

Well, IMO, Jeremy Piven and Paula Marshal had better chemistry - but I enjoyed this as well. Piven makes a better Cupid, but I think the new guy can make it work. Sarah Paulson didn’t get much chance to shine - but I think that is the writer’s fault and not hers. Marguerite Moreau was adorable - I thought she played her part well. I’m a sucker for a happy ending and we can expect that we’ll get one most weeks (not every week or the 100 couples will go too quickly.) I’ll keep watching. ---

On watching it again, I noted the scene where Sarah Paulson is trying to do the dart trick. OK, that showed some sense of humor. And I shouldn’t knock her for being a straightman. It’s the gig. ---

Well, I’m still watching – mostly because it’s on right after _Dancing with the Stars_, but I am still watching. Liked last night’s show – there was enough plot to keep the story going for the whole hour, which isn’t always the case in these shows. (The son being gay? I didn’t see it coming – but it felt like a natural part of the story, not something just tacked on at the last minute.) Anyone else still watching? ---

Yeah, I’m still in. It seems to be getting better by degrees (not that it started out badly). Although I’m becoming less enamoured with the way Dr. McCrae’s character is written.
