If only someone had posted a ā€œPressure Cooker Free Zoneā€ poster at the finish line of the race then obviously the bomber would had said, ā€œOh, shucks. I really wanted to blow some people up today but I guess I canā€™t becuase itā€™s a pressure cooker free zone. Oh well. I guess Iā€™ll go get some McDonalds.ā€ ---

Itā€™s only common sense that pressure cookers be brought under the purview of the BATFE making them the BATFEPC. ---

Is the OP contention that if one leaves a pressure cooker with two boys aged 4 and 6 that one will ā€œaccidentallyā€ murder the other one, even if it takes several repeated hits to the head? Perhaps people need to try and find other uses for pressure cookers, like, preparing a tasty meal. Just because pressure cooker manufacturers did not originally intended for that perhaps itā€™s time to change popular culture perception of pressure cookers as weapons and over time learn to accept that pressure cookers can be used for other things as well. ---

Iā€™m tired of all you PC (pressure cooker) types ruining everything. Around here, a guy canā€™t even say ā€œI want to squeeze and steam my meat until itā€™s hot and ready to explodeā€ anymore without getting odd stares from the cow-orkers. ---

Itā€™s worth noting that Iā€™ve seen this trope passed around by Second Amendment types as pointed satire. Apparently they are glossing over any difference in scale between the three deaths in Boston and the annual death toll by firearms. ---

Yeah, thereā€™s the scale thing and there also the glee that someone somewhere was killed with something that wasnā€™t a gun so I get to make this shitty lilttle post while many of the victims are still in the hospital thing. Then there is the fact that gun fetishists are compensating for their small penises thing and the fact that the NRA is pretty much a hate group funded by the arms industry thing, then there is the fact that a black guy is president thing and some people here will never get over that thing. ---

I have quite a few pressure cookers - for competition cooking only. I keep all of them in my pressure cooker safe, separate from their lids. OK, Iā€™ll admit that I do keep one pressure cooker in the kitchen, for ready access in case of unexpected visitors but I told the kids not to play with it. ---

You forgot to mention ā€œpressure cookerā€ in your cry for help. A pressure cooker is just a fancy pipe bomb. People respond to tragedy in different ways. Some people respond with a nervous laugh, others need a little humor to keep from crying, still others talk about penises and black presidents. To each their own. Get well soon. ---

What I think is funny is every time a dumb ass red-staterā€™s kid blows his head off with his dadā€™s gun. It would clean up the gene pool except for red state Americaā€™s bug-like rate of procreation: the only thing they know how to use less than a gun safety is birth control. ---

I felt the spirit of this thread was a release for the craziness of what was going on around us. I donā€™t believe it was meant to offend, though some posts may have done that because different people have different views of where to draw the line. Cooking with pressure cookers does scare me, my post pretty much does reflect how I feel about them and not some other thing that could have been substituted as the subject of my post. The difference is I might actually buy a pressure cooker some day if I decide to get into canning foods, canā€™t do that with that other thing which is not useful for preserving foods. ---

Okay, gallows humor like this, so soon while people are still suffering, is gross and crude. But like it says, it helps the rest of us decompress, and is a common thing after disasters. After the [Challenger went kablooie on January 28, 1986](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Shuttle_Challenger_disaster) the same thing happened. Well I own a pressure cooker, for recreation use only. Now I have no problem with restriction on high capacity pressure cookers being left to the military. There is simply no _need_ for a civilian to pressure cook that much, despite all of the contrived arguments like ā€œA serious concern for me is the likelihood of charged by an Elephant and needing to cook it whole, quickly.ā€ ---
