The Boney King of Nowhere, what’s your username a reference to? I swear I’ve heard/seen it somewhere.
BTW, I think it’s cool.
Hope BKoN doesn’t mind my answering on his behalf, but it’s the parenthetical subtitle of the single “There There” from Radiohead’s latest album “Hail To The Thief”.
Nitpick: he was a character in an episode of the UK kid’s TV show Bagpuss first: Thom Yorke just nicked the name, and BKON I assume borrowed it from there. Damn, I’m good.
I may know sod all about yankee sweets but I do know about our Prime Ministers. Mrs Gladstone was involved - she used to sew his trousers up so he couldn’t shag 'em.
Palmerston cut down trees as a hobby and Churchill used to lay bricks.
Coupla things combined. Linda Ellerbee referred to her Overnight co-host Lloyd Dobyns as a “ham on wry” and one of my friends said that was a good description of me, too. When I was making my website, I was trying to think of a title - the original title was “The View From A Broad,” but the hubby thought it sounded tacky, and he suggested the extremely mundane and not creative “A Slice of Life.” Eventually it ended up being “A Slice of Life on Wry” because I ran out of other ideas. And that’s too long for an AOL screen name, so I shortened it to what it is now, and that’s the whole boring story.
And you’re pretty cool, yourself, Shirley but unless you’ll fit in my carry-on, I’m still not taking you to England with me.
Chickens? Well, how about a bird that stays in its cage all the time? A canary would do, if you could a) find the right cage, and b) the way I’ve seen people do it was to wrap something on the inside so little prying claws can’t get in there.
Just don’t use Saran Wrap.
Hey, I have no idea what movies you have or haven’t seen.
I’m a “he”.
Hey. You could do a steamer trunk. Just like the old days. But, fine.
When in doubt, you may assume I’m at least familiar with any given movie, though I may not have seen it.
I didn’t use a Tootsie Pop, because I’ve never been able to stand the things, but I did try this once when I was little. The answer was 1,089.
Marley, I don’t know whether or not to ask you what you did use.
I’ll bet that hurt…
av8rmike, that’s all. You’d think I could figure it out.
I thought there was only *one * thing you were allowed to be smug about?
I said everyone’s allowed At least one.
My talent is wordplay. And pop culture trivia. My two talents are wordplay, pop culture trivia, and roleplaying games. Three! My three talents are wordplay, pop culture trivia, and roleplaying games. And comic books and referential humor…
AMONGST my talents are…
Ah-HAH! Thanks. I was wondering why that was so familiar - I have that album. And I like it a lot.
Shows how much I pay attention to song titles. :slap:
Ok, you made me laugh.
Who doesn’t enjoy a good Monty Python reference?
