And you are an idiot if what I posted actually makes you think this.
There was no money to send me to college.
So, apparently that was a good thing, since I’d hate to have spent money I didn’t have on essentially useless stuff.
Uh, OK. Him doing the taxes translates into this. The leaps of (lack of) logic in here are amazing.
What an idiotic question. Do you have all of the money you’ve earned over the years?
Do you even have a brain? For one thing, SSI is my money, that I have been paying into ever since my first job. For another, the only reason your husband (if you have one) married you is so you could earn money? Sounds like a wonderful marriage.
No, I spent my life working and now that I can’t and have to budget, I become resentful that so much of my past income and husband’s past and current income goes for children’s programs and problems. I’m tired of having them shoved in my face as the most important thing in the world. I’d be happy if people would just recognize how selfish it is to have children but not only am I expected to help pay for their kids, they get upset when I’m not happy to do it. Oh well, I won’t be leaving further generations to deal with whatever happens when humans finally overrun the planet.
Oh goody, another internet psychiatrist. Motivated by someone that disagrees with their world view. Piffle.
The money you paid into Social Security will not add up to what you end up receiving in disability plus retirement. In fact, 10 or 15 years down the road when you are formally retired, guess whose taxes will be paying for your room and board?
Take your time.
Go ahead, think about it.
That’s right . . . the children who are growing up now and going to school will be wage earners, with a hefty chunk of their pay going straight into your Depends undergarments.
So next time you see a child, have the decency to say thank you in advance.
So, you accuse me of not reporting something to the IRS and as it turns out, you don’t even know what you are talking about. Nice. FWIW, I paid a company, tho I have no idea if it had a business license. However, seeing as I don’t have to report to the IRS when I buy from Lowes, have the roof redone or have the house tented, I cannot imagine I am required to do so when I hire a lawn service.
No, and if you had a working brain cell you would see that the issue is that illegals, who do not pay much of anything in the way of taxes, are sending children who cannot speak English to our public schools, which are funded by the taxpayer. I actually would prefer Mexican kids over most others I meet since the Mexican parents seem to do a good job at parenting.
I’m not getting any now as the state disability ran out and I haven’t had my court date for SSI yet. When I was getting it, state disability in this state is funded by deductions from our paychecks. But of course, you could have just looked that up instead of assuming something seriously negative. I understand - what fun would that be? Much better to just act like a bitch than an adult.
Well, actually, you don’t know that do you? How long am I going to live? Will my SS be reduced after they factor in my pensions? Will there even be Social Security by the time I get to what would be retirement age? It’s entirely possible that even if I do get the SSI, it won’t last because the whole program is crumbling. Which would make it the third time I’ve paid into a government program and not gotten even close to what I paid into it back.
You are stupid, aren’t you? It’s better to just keep pumping out those kids so we can spend taxes on them instead of shoring up Social Security, eh? Do you know that there are quite a few children out there sucking out Social Security payments now, because one of their parents died? And then we dump more government programs into all the other things that support children, and I am supposed to be grateful that they might grow up to somehow help pay my SS, if the program even exists by then? Then my husband will essentially be forced to quit working, since younger workers are generally hired before 65 year old ones, and there will be plenty of younger workers available for hire. And I should be grateful to all of these children?
Gracious. How dare they. I bet they get on your lawn as well.
BTW, since this is the Pit and you’ve decided to be all bitter an’ stuff, do you think there’s any possibility that you yourself have made some foolish choices that’s left you so destitute in your twilight years? Oh, say, to the tune of $50,000 or so?
You know, this is just getting depressing. Curlcoat, you’ve got a lot of anger and bitterness hoarded up toward the world, and you reveal more about yourself in every post.
I think you should unsubscribe from these threads just as I’m doing, take a break for a couple of days, and then come back to the boards and pretend these two threads (this and the dog one) never happened.
I think you’ll find this is a fun community and a great place to get out of yourself and even make some friends if you want to, but it’s best to keep a light touch and stay out of the Pit and GD if you find yourself easily riled up. I do hope things get better for you, and that the SDMB can be a resource for you as well.
It’s already been shown to you, comprehensively and with cites, that you are wrong about this. Why do you keep repeating an incorrect fact? Do you have reading comprehension problems? Is this an aspect of your disability? Or are are too much of a stupid cow to absorb new information? Or are you a chain-yanking, lying troll? Pick one. I’ll wait.
Hey, I was one of those children “sucking out Social Security payments”–as were my sibs. For many years; my father died when I was 4 & my sibs are younger.
As you guessed–I have no husband. And you’ve had two! I’m not particularly bent out of shape by missing motherhood–but I don’t waste time hating other people’s children, either.
By the way–people can go to college even if their parents can’t afford to send them. Especially years ago, it was possible to work your way through–part time or not–without taking out huge loans. And it wasn’t too hard to get financial aid & even small scholarships. Did you even try?
The workers of the future will be paying Social Security that we will collect. Yes, I plan to take my share when I’m old enough. By the way–does your husband ever plan to retire–or will he be out there competing with the “kids” when he’s 65? You contributed to the family finances for years; what does the future hold for both of you? Do you plan to sit, passively, while he takes care of your future? Just as you sat, passively, waiting for somebody to educate you?
You needn’t be “grateful” for those dreadful children. But why must you obsess about them? It’s very boring.
And yet, when I suggested that the reason why I didn’t know that people from Africa weren’t allowed to immigrate until rather recently could be because a large portion of my education was crap, the response was that no education could be so bad. (Or some such thing - I’m not going to go searching for the quotes).
Nope, I am responsible - always carry bags. And since the point wasn’t to have the dogs potty there, they rarely did.
All that has been “proven” is that illegals pay sales tax, which I had forgotten about and which is why I changed it to “much of anything”. It has not been “proven” that illegals pay property tax, income tax (fed or state) or any of the others, it has merely been theorized that they might be able to buy property and something else I forget now - sorry that I have other things to do than remember everything in this thread.
As for my having reading comprehension problems, no but I do miss posts now and again since I don’t get emails for each one. Part of the disability? I suppose, in that it could be a side affect of narcotics, I don’t know. (Not a doctor nor do I play on on TV) Stupid cow? Nope. Chain-yanking lying troll? Nope?
As for you, I’d suggest you have a look at what you post and see if maybe some of these things might apply to you.
Speaking of reading comprehension, where did you get the idea that I am in my twilight years and am/will be destitute? Apparently you missed that “pensions” word in my post.
I highly doubt it will ever be anything other than a way to pass time when I need to rest. I’ve been reading this thing on and off for years and the thing that strikes me about it is that it is filled with people that like to jump to conclusions based on pretty much zero fact. Despite it’s title, this board is populated with folks that think with their emotions rather than with their brains. For example, you thinking that I have “a lot of anger and bitterness hoarded up toward the world” - apparently anyone that doesn’t agree with the status quo must be angry and bitter? If you really feel that way, I’d feel sorry for you if I actually knew you.
And? This you are proud of? Perhaps you think you had more right to it than I?
Again, and? I also don’t recall saying anything about your marital status, but that is kind of immaterial.
Explain to me how someone who had to work full time just to earn living expenses is supposed to also find money for college and actually attend that college? I have no idea what financial aid or scholarships might have been available in Washington in 1975 but I doubt that my GPA qualified me for them.
If we still have Social Security in the future, so? Do you think that if people slow down on having litters there won’t be enough workers to go around?
I said specifically that it isn’t likely he would have the choice, given that most companies don’t want to employ older, experienced, more expensive workers. He is going to try to hold on until he is 65 but if for some reason he loses his job after 62 he may have to retire then.
You are an idiot aren’t you?
I don’t obsess about them, I react to the obsession of others.
I did have more right to SSI after my father’s death than you did. You mentioned that your father even graduated college; mine was taking evening classes while working full time–when he was called back to active duty.
From an earlier post:
It’s a secret! People with brains figure these things out. Too bad about the GPA.
You obviously have time to read up on the latest right wing talking points. Why don’t you use some of our ample leisure time to improve your mind? “Littering” is not the only way to provide for future workers–immigration helps.
Hey, he’ll prefer becoming a greeter at WalMart to spending time at home with you!
No, I’m not the one pitted because of my really amazing ignorance!
Thanks for removing every last bit of compassion I’d felt for you. Bleeding Heart Liberal & all–I do have limitations.
Teachers these days are ranked far below “glorified babysitters.” How much does a good babysitter get per hour these days? Your average classroom has about 30 students in it. Multiply the money per hour by 30. Is the average teacher making that much per hour?
I can prove it- I paid all state and federal taxes for my housekeeper/nanny, plus she had all appropriate taxes taken out of her checks, when she worked for me. Although she had a social security card with her own name on it, it came to light that her status was questionable (she had started the process to “get legal” but she was not, yet).
As an employer, I was required to get an SSN from her, not to confirm it’s veracity. She and I paid all taxes associated with her employment. The gov’t should love that- she will probably never file a tax return or disability claim to get any of that money back (which is rightfully hers).
