Dear God,

When I’m finally pitted\*, please have someone twice as crazy jump into the thread to take the heat off.

And I’ll give my lunch money to an orphanage if you sweeten the deal by having my scapegoat (“Pit Patronus”?) start calling adoption “child stealing”, or calling high fives “rape in mid-air”.
\*(and, y’know, you _could_ make me interesting enough to pit, jes’ sayin’…)

You should also pray for god to grant you the sense to slink away quietly when the crazy hand-raper gives you the chance!

> See, I said you wanted forced abortion/adoption for women _who don’t meet your exacting standards_. One of the standards being ‘pregnant woman is not a minor’. I never, ever said ‘all female persons’, and you are the one attempting to twist and lie until it looks like you’re right and I’m wrong. Not going to work.

Oh good lord, you are going to try to change the story to that? All the discussion of whether or not “woman” is an adult female and now you are going to try to pretend that “exacting standards” meant age of female person? Even tho I clearly separated teens and adults in my original post?

> [@](#):

> No it didn’t. First definition (usually most common) is [a female human being](http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/woman). The others refer to an adult woman, a servant, and a wife.

Thanks for proving that it did indeed agree with me, in that (as I said) three out of four of the definitions specified or inferred an adult. The fact that you want to hang your case on just the first definition without considering the others shows how desperate you are. And how you end up posting so many untrue things.

> [@](#):

> Why don’t you claim that you were only objecting to forced abortions for wives? It would make as much sense as your stance.

I have no idea why that would make any difference.

> Stop accusing me of lying and of not proving anything. I have proved everything to you, you are just to thick or too stubborn to understand it. I’m not the one standing in the way of ‘intelligent conversations’ around here.

Uh huh. I’ll stop accusing you of lying and not being able to prove what you say when those things quit happening. The one who is too thickly stubborn is you - once you have decided I have said X, no amount of clarification, definition, cites will change your mind. You have stuck me into a little box, and anything that doesn’t fit gets folded and mutilated until it does.

FWIW and FTR, waaaay back when I wrote the post in question, I believed that parents had the right to decide what would happen to a pregnancy that a dependent girl had. I wasn’t advocating forced abortions, I was saying that all parents should be able to tell their dependent daughters that they must chose to either abort or adopt out the baby, if that is what the parents wish. Then I went on to talk about adult unfit mothers. I suppose I could have made it clearer by putting a paragraph break between the two, but you complain when my posts run long…

OK…so let’s make this clear: you are in favour of parents forcing an underage (whatever that age might be in your jurisdiction) person to either have an abortion or to give the child up for adoption. Is that correct?

It’s only fair. Curlcoat jumped in to support Lynn Bodani when Lynn came out in favor of beating children and also supported Broomstick’s recent revelation that Broomstick used to be, in point of fact, Batman.

I notice neither one showed up for her, though. Huh. Lynn’s probably “busy” and Broomstick is has bigger problems to deal with, like tattoo fascism.

Anyway, my guess is that ZPG has a deal with a lunatic to be named at a later date. This stuff is probably planned out a couple months in advance.

Come on, clearly the pertinent detail here is that some people don’t consider pregnant teens to be women. Duh. Learn to focus on the important stuff!

She didn’t say “teen,” she said “dependent.”

Whoa. My dependent daughter is in her mid-20’s. I guess we’d better figure out what she should do with her major decisions in life. Since **curlcoat** believes (no, wait, it wasn’t even presented as an opinion, but as a _fact_) … **curlcoat** _says_ we should make our daughter’s decisions for her.

Can she decide what kind of career to go into? Where to live? Or do we need to save her from having to make those decisions, too? Who decides when she gets to grow up and decide for herself?

And would you say that a _son_ should have his parents make his decisions for him, too? Or is it just a girl thing?

Well, I had the gall to go away for the weekend again and ignore the internet, so in case you all are actually interested in answers to these…

I am in favor the the parents being allowed to make the decision as to whether or not they end up having to support a baby, so since they are required to support any children their dependent children have I think they shouldn’t forced to have to take on another one. If they want to, fine but if they don’t then they shouldn’t have to. I have to imagine it would be the best decision for the baby as well.

No, I didn’t say that, I said that the parents shouldn’t be forced to raise a baby they don’t want just because their dependent daughter got pregnant. Now, what state do you live in where your daughter is still a dependent in her mid-20’s?? Or are you doing the typical “lets exaggerate this as far as I can and then pretend she actually said this”?

With a son, they cannot be forced to have a baby be dependent on them.

No, not at all. I lost interest in your idiot ramblings months ago. I would find it interesting if you said something like, “Maybe I’ve been wrong about a few things,” or “Gee, I guess I don’t know as much about child rearing as I thought,” or “I’m going to shut up now and stop trying to get the last word.”

Thread just got better and better.

> [@flatlined](#):

Maybe this will help then:

I honestly don’t understand why people are happy to adopt puppies. I think most dogs should be spayed, especially if they are not purebred. Why are people happy to accept animals without the appropriate breeding documentation? I was personally bit by a dog when I was younger and my father is asthmatic. I really don’t see any problem with Michael Vick or dog-fighting rings. Do people not understand that a dog is for life and not for Christmas and they cause serious problems for people with allergies?

Then there was this:

> [@ZPG Zealot](#):
>
> my husband’s friends who playing very profane heavy metal

> [@ZPG Zealot](#):
>
> Many of the neighborhood men were in favor of just beating the crap out of the childrens’ father or encouraging the cholos to target them.

> My neighborhood is a community. We try to get along with each other and help each other out. We have all found that life is much more pleasant that way.

It is appropriate to enter a social contract featuring lynchings, but not a social contract featuring children that were allowed to play during the day other than at a park. Not to mention that some people had the temerity to question the parenting skills of an individual incapable of doing anything other than sleeping during the time their children would be awake.

There was a funny little man with a moustache with similar ideas as to how to limit population growth.

Because I have not said that I am an expert on anything, much less child rearing, and I am not trying to get in the last word. If you wish to have the last word, don’t post anything I would respond to. Such as a question.

Didn’t think starting a whole new curlcoat thread was worth it, but for your amusement…

In [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=659756) she completely misses the meaning of my post, leading her to post [this](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=15312321&postcount=9):

Twelve minutes later, in the very same thread, after several other posters join in to say she clearly didn’t understand what was being said, she posts [this](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=15312374&postcount=18):

My thanks to Drunky Smurf for pointing this out in the other thread.

And just to be clear, I don’t believe that a fetus has just as much right to life as a pregnant woman. Here is the [OP post](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=15311494&postcount=1), and here is [my post](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=15311651&postcount=4) that she got all bent over about.
