I think the beauty of todays fashion is that there is something for everyone. I have a harder time finding clothes in the summer time unless I want to wear tanktops. I guess it depends on the area you live in. Now I have choices thankfully. ---

Ya know, I was in Banana Republic about a week ago. On the sale table there was a big fuzzy ear-flap hat. Is this a sensible, practical item for Canada? Yes. Will it keep you’re ears warm? Yes. Is it even remotely stylish? **NO FREEKIN’ WAY!!** So, of course I try the hat on, and my friend an I laughed histerically. Then one of the sales girls came up and was quite snooty about the fact that _SHE_ had one of the hats, and they were _VERY_ fashionable. So I told her she was a fashion victim and we left. (Yes. Yes I did.) Ya don’t **HAVE** to wear the stuff, just because it’s in. ---

I always wear heels, but anything over a 4 is IMPOSSIBLE for me to navigate. I’m happy at 3 1/2 for my day-to-day, 9-to-5 thing. ---

It’s his second (the first he didn’t take proper care of and the fur fell out) when he wears his big blue coat (He’s had it since before I was born. I think he got it from the navy or something) he gets asked if he’s a cop. This is the same guy who has shovelled snow in his longjohns when it’s -30C out. I too don’t understand the purse thing. But then I only have 2 or 3 purses (only one of which I have used in the past year), one belt and 3 pairs of shoes, various styles, all black. When I get paid next I am thinking of buying some skater shoes. If I dress up I take my purse, but it’s not a fancy one. It’s this canvas black one with lots of pockets and room for a book or two. ---

My fashion sense definitely crystalized in long ago. I shop for fashionable clothes now by looking for stuff that’s “ugly in the right direction.” I keep coming across nice shirts that are way too short. They aren’t belly shirts, but they’ve got hardly any tail to tuck in. Coupled with low-cut pants, which are all you can find in the current fashion environment, these short shirts are a minor disaster. Trust me, I am doing my aestetic duty when I protect the world from catching the merest glimpse of my pale, stretch-marked tummy, not to mention my equally pale lower back and the elastic band on my white cotton panties. You would think the fashion world should be my ally in this endeavor. At least shirts that leave your wrists sticking out seem to be trendy. It’s super-easy for us tall gals to get The Look. I don’t grok the purse-as-accessory thing, either. Mine exists to prevent me from losing my wallet, my sunglasses, my keys, and my cell phone, not to accentuate my out-about-town look (which, since I can’t find a nice wool coat to replace my two-year-old ski jacket is, admittedly, scruffy.) Oh, well, I doubt that anyone organized enough to be comparing my shoes and my purse would be terribly impressed by my _ensemble_, anyway. p.s. I just got a Duct Tape [Fashion.com](http://Fashion.com) purse as a late Christmas present. Does that mean I need duct-tape shoes to go with it? ---

I don’t “do” fashion trends. I’ve always just worn stuff I liked, and I rarely have any clue as to what is popular any given…decade. It constantly surprises me to be reminded, as in the post above mine, how quickly fashions change. ---

I don’t follow fads that much, but I love shoes. I’m ok in just jeans and a t-shirt of some sort (when it gets cold, I toss an old sheepskin jacket on), but I LOVE SHOES. Boots, funky shoes with big heels, boots, leather, boots…and boots. Mostly of the mid-calf, clunky, evil looking “goth” variety. Just have fun with how you look…who cares if it happens to be fashionable or not ? ---

White pants. White pants are the bane of my life. Actually, tall, bleach-blond fourteenyearolds wearing tight, white, three-quarter glassons pants, a pastel boob chube with no bra, thaose god awful aviator sunglasses and a huge pink belt with holes in it, _that_ is the bane of my life. And there’s more of 'em around than you’d think. Granted I wear dark blue jeans, opshop tshirts and (in winter) my huge duffle coat that used to be my dads, and is thus covered in motorbike holes. Oh, and my Docs. Beautiful, beautiful Docs. I’ve had them since my feet stopped growing. I could wax on and on and on about them… ---

Given the chance, I would live in men’s button-down denim shirts and blue jeans, substituting flannel or wool for denim in the winter. However, I work in a department store and they want us to look nice, meaning no denim, we can’t have cleavage flashing everywhere, no sleveless tops, etc. I’ve managed to find four pairs of slacks to alternate; however, tops are more difficult to handle. All I want is something that doesn’t make me look fat/pregnant, something that isn’t skin-tight or see-thru, something that isn’t low-cut. I’d like something that looks fairly “cute” - I’m 18 years old, I don’t want to wear something that looks like I stole it out of my mom’s closet. However, this seems to be a rather difficult task. On the other hand, I’ve usually had decent luck with J.C. Penny’s, and I’d probably have more luck if I didn’t confine my search to just the department stores at the mall. Oh well. 😃 As for fashion: I’m a sucker for shirts that lace up or have flared sleaves. I also like those white “Made in India” gauzy (gauze-y? Am I making up a word, or do I just have no clue how to spell a pre-existing one?) tops. Way cute. ---

In nearly bought a red wool duffel coat there the other day. Then I remembered that I live in southern New Mexico. I just wear what I like, so I guess I only follow fashion trends loosely. I prefer _style_ over _fashion_, on me and others. WRT purses, I’ve gotten somewhat addicted to them, but on an every day basis, I just carry the same wallet-on-a-string with a cell phone pouch. The purses are for going out, or occasions when I really want to look “put together.” If I was working in a more formal environment, I’d probably carry my brown Coach bag most of the time, regardless of my shoe color.
